Jet off to the idyllic Atmosphere Kanifushi Maldives

The Atmosphere Group – part of a home-grown Indian Ocean brand – is one of our top recommendations in the tropical island paradise of the Maldives, especially for some winter sun. It’s partly the way it insists on remaining close to its roots by offering authentic experiences, dining, and design. And it’s partly due to its premium all-inclusive offering, which represents great value for money and the promise of ‘no surprises, no shocks or hidden costs’.

Jet off to the idyllic Atmosphere Kanifushi Maldives

Among the resorts is Atmosphere Kanifushi, in an idyllic setting in the sparsely populated Lhaviyani Atoll. There's lots included in your package such as transfers, fine dining and premium drinks, snorkelling equipment and tours, excursions, non-motorised water sports, the kids’ club, daily replenished mini-bars, and even a complimentary 45-minute spa treatment for every four-night stay!

What to expect at Atmosphere Kanifushi

Kanifushi is a blissful getaway of stand-alone beach villas and overwater villas, fusing traditional and new architecture for a modern feel with Maldivian touches. They include Sunset Family Villas made up of two interconnecting Beach Villas. All of its villas come with 24-hour room service, and some have a private pool and/or open-air bathroom. Some also come with extras such as champagne, wine, spirits, a daily exotic fruits basket, butler service and nightly dinners at the speciality restaurants.

Kanifushi combines the chance for a dose of tropical R&R and some fabulous cuisine (including the Maldives’ first vegetarian restaurant) with boat trips to nearby islands to meet the local community, support local businesses, and learn about conservation efforts at the Atoll Marine Centre.

Set on a sparkling 2km lagoon, the resort also involves guests in the local environment, culture, and heritage, with on-site entertainment including weekly Maldivian nights and demonstrations. Teens and adults can get together to enjoy daily activities ranging from beach volleyball to sunset fishing, and water sports including sailing, catamaran, canoeing, paddleboarding, and snorkelling with unlimited excursions. There’s also a floodlit tennis court, football, and chess tournaments.

Meanwhile, the youngest guests love the nature walks and the likes of sand art and palm leaf origami at the kids’ club, which has a sandy outdoor playground shaded by palm and banyan trees, and all ages can join in with mocktail making sessions and soak up entertainment including movies under the stars.

There’s also a main pool and an adults-only pool, plus a gorgeous spa with five double spa villas each with bath and shower, one double Thai villa, a Jacuzzi, a sauna and a steam room. Its Ayurvedic therapies and signature packages embrace treatments such as a banana-leaf wrap with cucumber and peppermint oils. You can also join in with wellbeing classes such as sunrise yoga by the lagoon.

There is plenty of choice when it comes to drinking and dining at the resort, starting with The Spice, the main buffet restaurant, with its live cooking stations, themed nights, and grill. Then there’s Sri Lankan street food based on nostalgic home-cooking recipes at Ceylon Bliss, and plant-based cuisine from Arabia, India, and the Mediterranean regions.

And it doesn’t stop there. Other options include Asian–Mediterranean fusion cuisine and weekly BBQs at Sunset Pool Bar, signature seafood dishes at the overwater Pier Six, overwater Japanese dining at Teppanyaki Grill, snacks and fish and chips at The Liquid pool bar, and sampler platters and a dinner menu from Just Veg and the Lantern Bar.
