This longstanding resort has been welcoming guests for more than 48 years – in fact, it’s the grande dame of Mauritius hotels, having opened as the island’s first very luxury offering in 1975. Many guests are families who return year after year as new generations appear – and indeed, with its room options with up to three bedrooms, it’s one that’s perfect for family escapes and multigenerational getaways that so many of our clients seek these days. The hotel also underwent a complete refurbishment in 2018, ensuring it remains one of the most beautiful and modern resorts in the region.
Rooms
Rooms, suites and the secluded two-bedroom villa have been cleverly designed to bring nature inside through disappearing patio doors, seamless indoor–outdoor flooring and island-inspired colour palettes. All come with balcony or terrace with ocean, beach or lagoon views, and suites enjoy personalised 24-hour butler service. Location and Activities
Nestled in the soft sands of a private peninsula, the hotel sits between a gorgeous, sheltered lagoon and the blissfully warm Indian Ocean, surrounded by fabulous coral reefs and clear waters. But it’s not all about peace and calm here: thrilling bespoke adventures on offer nearby include jumping out of an aeroplane, scaling a mountain, quad-biking through sugarcane fields and trekking in the wild at Ile aux Aigrettes.
Things to do
Back on-site, The Boathouse is the place to head to for water-sports fun on the lagoon, including kayaking, SUP paddle-boarding, fly-fishing, windsurfing, laser sailing, waterskiing and wakeboarding. The resort also has no fewer than three gorgeous infinity pools (one family, one adult-only and one in the spa).
There are also the KidsOnly and Tweens Only clubs and teens’ One Tribe, where younger guests can make new friends while joining in with the likes of treasure hunts, table tennis tournaments, five-a-side football, snorkelling, barbecues, bonfires and karaoke.
