Your journey begins in Colombo, the energetic gateway to Sri Lanka. After arriving, settle into your hotel and take the rest of the day to get a feel for the city. You might explore the markets of Pettah, where colourful stalls overflow with spices, textiles, and street food, or wander through leafy streets lined with old colonial architecture. As the day cools, join locals at Galle Face Green, where families gather by the sea and vendors serve up crispy snacks. In the evening, enjoy your first taste of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine at Nuga Gama, a restaurant designed like a traditional village, where recipes are handed down through generations.

Ancient treasures and elephant encounters

Leaving the capital behind, you’ll head into the Cultural Triangle, a region that holds some of the country’s most treasured landmarks. It’s a peaceful place to unwind before travelling deeper into tea country.
The road to Nuwara Eliya passes through scenic hills covered in tea plantations. Here, life moves at a slower pace. Visit a working tea estate to see how the leaves are picked and processed, then enjoy a fresh brew while taking in the misty views.

The wild south and a coastal escape

The adventure continues in Yala National Park, one of the best places in the world to spot leopards in the wild. Early morning and late afternoon safaris offer the best chances to see wildlife such as elephants cooling off at watering holes, deer moving through the tall grass, and bright flashes of birdlife along the riverbanks.
After the excitement of Yala, the pace slows as you head south to Galle. Within the old fort walls, you’ll find a relaxed atmosphere and a mix of history and local life. Stroll along narrow streets lined with Dutch-era buildings, browse small shops and galleries, and stop at a café to take in the view.
To finish your journey, head to Bentota, where wide beaches and warm waters make for a perfect finale. Whether you swim, try your hand at some water sports, or simply sit back with your feet in the sand, this is the ideal spot to reflect on your Sri Lankan adventure.
