This fabulous boutique resort deservedly ranked among the first 10 of TripAdvisors’ 2022 Top 25 Hotels for Romance in Asia, luring couples with the likes of full-moon beach dinners and champagne breakfasts. It’s an adult-only, all-villa affair, ensuring a true get-away-from it all feel – although it can be sociable too, with live bands, DJ sets, Maldivian cultural shows and ocean discovery shows. Our favourite thing of all here is the award-winning spa with its signature rituals using organic island-grown coconut, including couples’ treatments.

Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort

This is another adult-only boutique retreat that impresses us for several reasons, including its setting on the gorgeous Eagle Beach – the island’s best-known –  and the fact that its spa gives the option of massages in an an ocean-view cabana on the beach. Many of the therapies, which include couples’ treatments, feature natural local ingredients such as coconut milk and aloe. There’s also a wildly romantic oceanfront restaurant with a chef’s-table experience, a beach bar and movies under the stars.
