Why you need to visit The Standard Maldives for your next getaway

The Standard Hotel has quickly become an icon for its fun modern feel and the resort on Huruvalhi - its first island escape – is brilliant for everyone from stylish couples to families looking to spend some quality time together. We’re excited to announce that it has also just upgraded its benefits to make it more enticing than ever.

Why you need to visit The Standard Maldives for your next getaway

Kids under four now stay for free all year long, and charges for children up to 12 have been reduced too. The Standard is also pushing the boat out with new rolling discounts, as well as extending a ‘friends and family’ offer to guests booking a second villa. Its food and drinks packages now also include coffee, tea, and soft drinks.

We’ve looked at the many other reasons to choose this fabulous resort.

Its seaplane and lounge

The Standard’s seaplane is part of the Maldives’s oldest air services operator, which is also the largest seaplane operator in the world. You access it from the TMA Seaplane Terminal, open from 6am to 6pm daily, which serves complimentary food and drinks. The Standard’s guests also benefit from 17% off tickets.

Its perfect location for manta ray season

A Marine Protected Area and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Hanifaru Bay is famous for its concentration of gentle reef manta rays, which you can swim alongside on trips taken between now and September. You will head out into the scenic bay on a high-speed boat ride straight from the resort before diving in with these graceful creatures. Trips require a minimum of two people and last two hours.

Other things to see and do at The Standard

Days here can be as laidback or as active as you like.  Highlights include snorkelling on the naturally protected house reef, sailing to nearby dive sites, and taking boat trips to neighbouring islands to meet local communities and learn about their lifestyle.

For younger guests there’s the Lil’ Sharks Kid’s Club for children aged between two and twelve years old, with a paddling pool and activities including kite-flying, learning Dhivehi (the local Maldivian language), and the lively Teen Zone for older children.

This is a sociable resort for all ages, with dancing on the beach to tribal beats or having fun in Beru Bar, the resort’s overwater nightclub with its glass-bottomed dance floor. But there’s also relaxation and indulgence in store at the spa with its hammam, healing bodywork, CBD treatments, sound therapy, and daily yoga sessions. Tonic, the spa’s adult-only pool, even has a swim-up wellness bar serving cocktails, non-alcoholic tonics, and elixirs made from medicinal herbs and plants.

The six unique restaurants at The Standard also range from the intimate to the outgoing, with standouts including the beachfront, toes-in-the-sand BBQ Shak, and Gudaguda (which means relaxing and conversing while enjoying a meal). This classic Maldivian restaurant serves authentic local dishes featuring lots of ocean-fresh seafood and offers the choice of dining traditionally on low floor cushions, indoors or outdoors. All-inclusive packages are also available.

Its private infinity plunge pools

All 115 of The Standard’s overwater and beach villas – the largest of which have two bedrooms and sleep up to six – have their own plunge pools in which to find seclusion. They each have direct lagoon or beach access and an activity wall with life jackets, snorkel masks, fins, floaties, dry bags, and torches. Some also have lovely open-air or partly open-air bathrooms, while indoors, some have vast soaking bathtubs beneath disco balls.
