  • Climb the 365 Calvari Steps in Pollença’s Old Town for rewarding vistas over terracotta rooftops and rolling hills.
This seven-night road trip captures the essence of Mallorca, from cultural cityscapes to mountain scenery and picture-perfect coastlines. Start your self-drive journey in Palma’s historic heart, then wind your way through the rugged Serra de Tramuntana mountains to Port de Sóller. Continue to the expansive bay of Port de Pollença before concluding your adventure in the idyllic coves of Cala d'Or. With short, leisurely drives between each base, there’s plenty of time to uncover charming villages, relax on sun-drenched beaches, or linger over local flavours at your own pace.

Day 1: Palma

After collecting your car, arrive in the island’s cosmopolitan capital and settle into Puro Hotel Oasis Urbano for the night. This chic haven, set in a restored 18th-century palace just steps away from the Old Town and the bustling marina, is the perfect starting point for your Mallorca adventure.

Let your curiosity lead you, perhaps wandering through the La Lonja district, where honey-coloured Gothic architecture glows in the afternoon sun, or visiting the magnificent La Seu Cathedral. As evening approaches, take in the marina views and lively atmosphere during a stroll along the elegant, palm-fringed promenade before finding a local restaurant. The air here is filled with the promise of delicious dishes, from freshly caught seafood to local cured meats.

Days 2-3: Port de Sóller

Today’s drive takes you into the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Serra de Tramuntana mountains, where winding roads are lined with ancient olive terraces and the scent of citrus hangs in the air. Your Port de Sóller base for two nights is Hotel Es Port, a 17th-century fortified mansion nestled in peaceful gardens just a short walk from the beach.

To get acquainted with the area, hop aboard the vintage tram to Sóller town for a delightful perspective of its Art Nouveau architecture and charming market square. Spend your days savouring the region’s treasures at your own pace, whether you’re hiking a section of the GR-221 trail for magnificent coastal views, visiting the dramatic cove of Sa Calobra and the striking Torrent de Pareis gorge, or watching the sunset over the bay from Cap Gros Lighthouse. Each moment offers a perfect opportunity for photo-worthy memories and a true taste of Mallorca’s natural beauty.

Days 4-5: Port de Pollença

Journey northeast to Port de Pollença, a relaxed resort town known for its long sandy bay and calm, clear waters. Stay at Bahía Pollensa for two nights: a comfortable aparthotel in the quiet Llenaire area, just a short stroll from the beach and close to shops and cafés.

Your time in this picturesque Mediterranean gem is yours to shape. Take a drive along the spectacular cliff-side road to Cap de Formentor, where sweeping coastal vistas unfold at every turn. You might visit the nearby S’Albufera Nature Reserve, a haven for birdlife and nature lovers, or paddle along the glittering coastline by sea kayak. Back on land, wander the cobbled streets of Pollença’s Old Town and climb the 365 Calvari Steps for panoramic views across sun-baked rooftops and undulating hills.

Day 6: Cala d'Or

Your drive today leads you to the island’s beautiful east coast and Cala d'Or. This area is famous for its collection of small, idyllic coves, known as ‘calas’. Your home for the night is Apartamentos Parque Mar: a comfortable, Mediterranean-style base offering excellent access to the town centre and marina.

Spend the day following pine-scented cliff-top paths that lead from one perfect beach to the next. Cala Petita and Cala Esmeralda are particularly alluring, with fine golden sand and turquoise water that’s ideal for swimming. If you’re eager to explore beneath the waves, snorkelling in the sheltered bays reveals a vibrant underwater world teeming with colourful marine life. Later, stroll through the harbour as it comes alive with the buzz of waterfront cafés and restaurants, offering a relaxed spot to enjoy fresh seafood and watch the evening light shimmer across the water.

Day 7: Palma

Enjoy a scenic drive back to Palma, where you’ll return to the familiar comfort of the Puro Hotel Oasis Urbano in La Lonja for your final night. The city’s mix of culture, historic architecture, and coastal charm offers the perfect final taste of Mallorca.

Relish the opportunity for some last-minute souvenir shopping in the artisan boutiques along Carrer de Sant Feliu, relax in a shaded courtyard café, or sample local flavours at the Santa Catalina market. In the evening, raise a sangria to a wonderful week spent discovering the island’s diverse landscapes, hidden treasures, and unmistakable Balearic flair.
