A Review of Sani Dunes

Travel – End of September 22 Where - Sani Dunes resort in Halkidiki, Greece.

Sani resort is made up of 5 Hotels. Having travelled to 5 Star hotels across the world, we have previously always felt that Europe 5 star is often lacking. We used Jet2 as the airline and the flight from Manchester was good and the airport experience reasonable too. On arrival the standard was set. We were greeted at the main entrance and the aroma as we walked into the reception area was wonderful. There was no hustle just perfect calmness. Complimentary drinks were provided whilst booking in procedure was performed sitting on the Sundeck admiring the view. The staff were extremely helpful and polite. They also arranged our Restaurant booking for the Evening and explained the Half Board option. On arrival at our room, we were delighted with the cleanliness and attention to detail. The stage was set. The pool area is spacious and there is no rushing for sun loungers as there were plenty even though the hotel was fully booked. Each lounger had a beach towel on it. Water was provided in an ice bucket as required. This service was repeated on the beach. The half board option is a little complicated and app based. There are 24 restaurants within the resort. Some of these are A La Carte where you get 25 Euros deduction per person, ask Jade or Sue they have all the information you need now. There are some restaurants that have a dine around option which means that you can either take 25 euros per person off the total bill or opt for the Dine around Menu which is included in your stay. There are also 4 buffet restaurants that still require booking and they are self-service. The first problem that I noticed was that the reservations need to be done within the app. On trying to book the availability seem to be poor often after 21:00 hours. The first customer survey hit just after trying to book restaurants so sent a score of 8 but there was no way to clarify scoring. The next morning, I was approached by guest services who questioned my feedback, upon my explanation they helped us to sort all of my remaining dining reserrvations with no fuss. Once again an exemplary service. The resort is well spaced and the harbour is a lovely place to stroll. A complimentary sunset evening cruise was included with our stay. Also, there is complimentary buggy services around the resort if the walking is too much. The shops are mainly designer and therefore quite pricey. There were excursions offered by the hotel and these were reasonably priced. In summary we have travelled well but this location was stunning, and the service provided was second to none. Whilst we rarely return to the same place twice we likely will return in the very near future as this is an amazing complex and well worth the money. Well done team Sani.
