United Arab Emirates - Abu Dhabi

I flew from Manchester with Ethiad Airways direct to Abu Dhabi and I was fortunate enough to experience their Business Class service, cabin crew, meals, in-flight entertainment were fantastic, especially the flat beds with the back massagers. On arrival in Abu Dhabi, they have a dedicated terminal for Etihad Airways which does make the service quicker and more enjoyable. After collecting our luggage we were met by our ground handler Desert Adventures (who were with us throughout) who took us to our hotel 5* Fairmont Bab Al Bahr hotel on Abu Dhabi Island for our 3night stay. The facilities at the hotel were amazing, especially for corporate clients who want to be close to the city. It has fantastic views over to The Grand Mosque from the bedrooms which is a fantastic building in itself. I visited The Hilton Abu Dhabi which is located on the Corniche, 10mins from the city centre, a good option for both corporate and leisure guests. The beach club is accessed via a walkway underneath the road and is open to residents and non-residents. Across from the hotel is the Heritage Village which provides a interesting glimpse into the country's past showing traditional aspects of the Bedouin way of life. The Beach Rotana Hotel & Towers is right in the heart of the city and faces the sea, currently building works are taking place nearby, but it has fabulous restaurants including a French Polynesian. It also offers guests a private entrance to Abu Dhabi Mall which offers several shopping outlets. There is an exhibition at Manarat Al Saadiyat which means 'Enlightenment' it's interactive which shows the vision and cultural history of Abu Dhabi, definitely worth a visit, in this area is the first class hotel St Regis on Saadiyat Island, which was the best one by far in my opinion, it is family friendly with fantastic facilities, guaranteed views of the ocean from the rooms, it also offers private dining and intimate spaces overlooking the beach or the Saadiyat Beach Golf club. It also offer corporate guests excellent conference facilities as well. For the wilder side of Abu Dhabi why not go to Ferrari World which is the largest indoor theme park where you can experience the world's fastest rollercoaster which goes from zero to 240km in 4seconds - I was scared just watching!! That evening I visited The Westin Abu Dhabi which is a 5* Golf & Spa resort situated next door to 18hole Abu Dhabi Golf Course, it offers a wonderful dining experience in Fairways and all rooms overlook the course, Premier Rooms are located on the ground floor so that you can access the golf straight away, golf packages and night golf (9hole) are all available. After a hearty breakfast at our hotel we arrived at Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara which had only opened the day before, it is set on the waterfront overlooking the Mangroves and its unique location offers guests a wonderful experience. The decor has an Arabian feel with grand passageways and arched ceilings, you can also re-juvenate yourself in the Spa before relaxing around the pool. It was an inviting property away from the hustle and bustle of the city, which would appeal to both leisure and corporate guests. One of the highlights for me was visiting the Grand Mosque which is a complete masterpiece with marble and intricate decorations and carvings. To get a feel for the place you can have a guided tour at certain times throughout the day. It allows up to 40,000 worshippers and is home to the world's largest handmade carpet. The mosque is also the burial site of the late president Sheikh Zayed who also had the vision for Abu Dhabi, a wonderful attraction. The Emirates Palace is a majestic property near the Corniche, it has 1.3km of private beach and grand rooms as well as suites. It is the ultimate in luxury for the discerning traveller. My last stop was Jumeriah by Ethiad Towers, it offers a beach location as well as conference facilities for corporate clients. The hotel has a panoramic restaurant located on the 63rd floor, which is an amazing sight. It also offers residential apartments and office space as well as hotel rooms so it is open to non-residents as well. Wherever you go in Abu Dhabi I would recommend a car due to the distances, but what a wonderful place for a stopover or holiday.
Celebrity Cruises

I would like to share my Celebrity Cruise experience as I previously had never travelled this way, and my journal may encourage all non-cruisers to consider this as a option when choosing their next holiday. I went on a 4night sailing from Southampton to Cork (Cobh) Ireland on Celebrity Eclipse, this is an amazing 5* ship which is part of their Solstice Class, and 85% of their staterooms are outside or balcony therefore providing guests with the best vantage points when cruising into different ports. The ship was inviting and luxurious from the outset and never ceased to amaze or impress from the staterooms, entertainment venues, right through to the dining and speciality restuarants where the food is inpeccable. The Moonlight Sonata dining room has an impressive two storey wine tower and it also feels as though it has been taken from a hollywood film set. The shows on board were just a taster of what you would have on a longer duration but these were based on West-end musicals right through to Cirque de Soleil so there was something for all the family to enjoy, the ship was a little bumpy in the Irish Sea and all that spinning and balancing did make me quite queasy!!! But it didn't detract me away from the brilliance of the performers. On arrival in Cobh myself and some other TC's caught a train into the centre of Cork to explore further and also sample some of the black stuff, which I will say was yummy. As it was raining (as always in Ireland) we decided to take the tour bus around Cork as this was the best way of seeing it in such a short space of time and gave us spare time for shopping which us ladies like to do!!!! There was not enough hours in the day to experience everything these wonderful ships have to offer so I personally would recommend 7nights or a longer duration would be beneficial. People always say once you have cruised you will want to cruise some more and this I feel is very very true.

My Travel Counsellor, Jayne Musgrave, is outstanding, even for a business trip she put together a package that was a great experience.
Where she really earned the fee was when it all went wrong, she knew what was happening even before the airline notified me and as the notification got to me, she had already WhatsApp’d me with the new revised plan, in this case an overnight hotel booking and rebooked flights.
When the rebooked flights were delayed she has kept in contact, so what could have been a lonely and stressful experience was actually quite relaxed. Travel Counsellors is the insurance policy you never knew you needed. (They can also arrange your travel insurance).

Without doubt the best travel counsellor I have dealt with and I have booked a number of holidays over the years. Her patience and attention to detail to get the holiday just right is second to none. I never felt rushed into making a decision or pressured in any way into booking anything until it was perfect. I also like the way the little things are taken care of eg the shore excursions on cruises the extra hotel nights and transfers to make it a truly bespoke holiday. I find it necessary to put in to writing my absolute and unconditional gratitude for an amazing woman with limitless talents whom I met several years ago. My then partner (now husband) and I had been trying to plan our wedding for some time and had contacted several other travel and wedding agents. We were met with a complicated and uncoordinated approach which led to much stress and anxiety until I contacted Jayne at Travel Counsellors.
She was immediately welcoming and her approach and the confidence she gave us was brilliant. Jayne listened thoroughly to all our ideas, problems and requests for our wedding and honeymoon (and there were quite a few!). We talked on many occasions; we contacted Jayne by email, telephone and face to face. Nothing was ever too much trouble and her communication and updates were second to none.
Jayne’s service was exceptional and no matter how small, unusual or sentimental our request she managed to ensure it happened for us. Even while we were in Jamaica the process was smooth and someone was always available to us through Travel Counsellors.
I highly recommend Jayne as a Travel Counsellor and a wedding organiser; for her excellent communication skills, friendly welcoming attitude and her personal touch in all things that matter. She gave us the wedding and honeymoon exactly as WE wanted it and more.

If it was possible I would Jayne a mark of 20 out of 10 for the service she provides for myself and my family. Nothing is to much trouble and I recommend her when anyone asks who I book my holidays with.

Jayne had helped us choose and book our holiday in Sharm El Sheik and we were looking forward to some winter sun.
Unfortunately just 1 week before travelling a tragic accident to a member of my partner’s family stopped us from going, our insurance would not cover the cancellation and we thought we had lost the holiday and the full cost.
I called Jayne to see if anything could be done and after some pretty hurried re-arranging, mostly over the weekend, we had our money back on the hotel and were able to re-arrange the flights, we booked a lovely alternative hotel that came available for the later date, and to top it off got £60 refund!
There is no way this could have happened with a package operator or without the tireless, cheerful last minute re-arranging from Jayne, she took all the stress out of it and sorted every detail for us.
A great big thank you from Tony and Denise, highly recommended.

What can I say, excellent service from start to finish. The last minute booking of the holiday went like a dream thanks to Jayne's excellent service. The holiday itself was second to none with excellent hotel Iberostar Jarden Del Sol in Majorca's Santa Ponca with staff that gave you the personal treatment from the housekeeping to the cocktail bar.
Every requirement that we mentioned to Jayne was met and much more besides - thank you so much I would definitely recommend both the hotel and Jayne Musgrave when booking a holiday. We have recommended to all of our friends and Jayne is already looking for our next holiday, happy days.

So far Jayne has helped us book three holidays - each one has been outstanding. Jayne is the most knowledgable travel advisor I have ever spoken to. We will use Jayne every year, as it give us complete piece of mind that such a professional and knowledgable person is handling our holidays.
You always think holidays can be cheaper by using the internet in attempt to cut out the middle man/woman - I tried and each time I went back to Jayne and if it wasn't for her professionalism we would've paid a lot of hidden costs that are never made clear on the web.

My daughter and I have just returned from a few days in Benidorm which was booked through Jayne. Everything was 100% perfect from start to finish. The hotel she recommended ws superb and we plan to re visit the Albir Playa again later this year, we shall DEFINATELY book through Jayne again as it is so easy she does all the work for you. Jayne must have spent a lot of time on the phone trying to sort the three options we gave her for our holiday destination. She then followed this with the delicate operation of obtaining visas for India, which had I been on my own I would have given up I'm sure. I have compared what I could have achieved alone against Jayne's results and am certain I have a good deal.

Holiday was from 17/12/10 to 31/12/10 in Tenerife. Flights, private transfers, travel insurance, pre-booked plane seating, and hotel were all booked by Jayne - everything went like clockwork. Other points to note were the favorable flight times (dep uk. 10:10, dep tenerife. 15:30), and Jayne's personal knowledge/experience in selecting the hotel.
This is excellent service.
