Top Ten European Cities for Photography

28 June 2023

I have travelled to quite a few European cities over the years and really LOVE the architecture, city vibes and cafe cultures they offer. During the pandemic I decided to purchase a camera as photography has always been of interest to me. And I sort of feel that travel and photography go hand in hand. So, with that in mind, I downloaded an online photography course and taught myself how to (sort of) use my new camera. Now that I have my new camera, I have made a list of the top ten European cities I want to return to photograph in the future. I can't wait!! Here are my current top ten European cities for photography: 1. Paris, France: The City of Love is famous for its stunning architecture, charming streets, and iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. 2. Venice, Italy: The City of Canals offers endless photo opportunities with its beautiful canals, bridges, and colorful buildings. 3. Barcelona, Spain: This vibrant city offers a mix of stunning architecture, colorful street art, and lively street scenes. 4. Amsterdam, Netherlands: With its charming canals, historic buildings, and vibrant culture, Amsterdam offers plenty of photo opportunities. 5. Prague, Czech Republic: This historic city offers a mix of stunning architecture, charming streets, and beautiful views from its many bridges. 6. Santorini, Greece: This Greek island is famous for its stunning sunsets, blue-domed churches, and cliffside villages overlooking the Aegean Sea. 7. Edinburgh, Scotland: This historic city offers a mix of stunning architecture, charming streets, and beautiful views from its many hills. 8. Dubrovnik, Croatia: This walled city on the Adriatic Sea offers stunning views of the sea, charming streets, and historic landmarks. 9. Vienna, Austria: This elegant city offers a mix of stunning architecture, charming streets, and beautiful parks and gardens. 10. Budapest, Hungary: With its stunning bridges, historic buildings, and beautiful views of the Danube River, Budapest offers plenty of photo opportunities. To me, photography is the art of capturing life in stillness and one of the best ways of cherishing our amazing memories.

A Whistle -Stop Tour of Prague

04 April 2023

A whistlestop tour of Prague Prague has got to be one of the most iconic, architecturally beautiful cities in Europe. Bursting with stunning buildings, an old town quarter, lively nightlife, and plentiful choice of accommodation, it is a fabulous place for a weekend city break. Having visited this gorgeous city a few years ago, I was mesmerized by its beauty and felt almost like I was transported into a fairytale. We arrived in Prague on the Friday morning after getting an early flight from Belfast. After a short taxi journey we arrived at our hotel and decided to explore the local area immediately. I had seen so many beautiful images of the old town square, it was first on my list to see and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Located between Wenceslas Square and Charles Bridge and with a stunning array of colourful buildings, the place looked so full of personality and almost magical. Beautiful cafes along the outside of the square made it easy to sit and watch the world go by. I am not surprised this historical city attracts almost 2 million visitors every year. On Saturday morning we set off on foot again and decided to visit the National Museum of Prague. A great experience for anyone wishing to dig deeper into Prague’s interesting history. Afterwards we strolled around the city centre shops and of course couldn’t resist a cheeky cocktail and a bite to eat before exploring the Christmas market. With the markets twinkling fairy lights, crisp December air and the smell of a wonderful variety of artisan foods, there was a glowing feeling of Christmas in the air. If like me, you are a keen photographer, I would advise to either get up early to beat the crowds or stay out later when most of the crowds disperse, you may have a better chance of getting some nice photos of some of Prague’s most iconic spots. Check out some more of my top tips and places to visit while in Prague. Top Tips & places to visit For keen photographers either get up early before the crowds or stay out till sunset to try to get the best photo opportunities. Charles Bridge Old Town Square & Astronomical Clock Prague Castle Museums (there are loads!) Take a scenic river cruise on the Vltava River by day or night If you are in Prague a little longer, explore the surrounding areas by train.
