The location puts you in a great spot to explore this part of Cornwall. Portreath itself has that classic harbour feel, with a small beach, a handful of cafés, and coastal paths leading out in both directions. Walk along the South West Coast Path towards Godrevy Head for views across to the lighthouse or head inland to explore nearby villages and countryside.

Food at Gwel an Mor centres around The Terrace Restaurant, which makes the most of its elevated position overlooking the sea. It’s a great place for a long lunch, a traditional Cornish cream tea in the afternoon, or a more relaxed evening meal. The menu focuses on familiar favourites with a local touch, and the setting does a lot of the work, especially as the light starts to change in the evening.
