  • Your holiday begins in Calgary, a city that perfectly blends the modern with its Old West heritage. Your base is the Sandman Signature Downtown Calgary Hotel, which provides a comfortable retreat after a day of exploring, with facilities including an indoor pool and fitness centre. Its central location means you’re just steps from some of the city's best restaurants and bars, too.

  • Start your visit by exploring the iconic Calgary Tower for panoramic views of the city and nearby Rockies. Stroll through the bustling streets of downtown, where you’ll find the trendy East Village and the historic Stephen Avenue Walk, a pedestrianised street with plenty of options for dinner and drinks. For nature lovers, a visit to Prince’s Island Park or a bike ride along the Bow River pathways is a must.

  • The centrepiece of this trip is your time at Thanksgiving Ranch near Pincher Creek. Here, you’ll have six 90-minute horse riding experiences, allowing you to properly connect with your horse and the landscape. Guided by experienced wranglers, you’ll ride through the rolling foothills of the Rocky Mountains, following trails that offer incredible views.

  • From Thanksgiving Ranch, you’re perfectly positioned to explore the surrounding area. A short drive will take you to Waterton Lakes National Park, a stunning region where the prairies meet the peaks of the Rockies. It’s a quieter alternative to the more famous parks to the north and offers fantastic walking trails and chances to spot wildlife. You can also visit the Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that tells the story of the area’s Indigenous peoples over thousands of years.
