After leaving Tokyo, the cruise calls at Shimizu, where the landscape immediately shifts. Many guests choose to walk along the waterfront, visit Miho no Matsubara’s pine-lined coastline, or spend time in small cafés serving fresh seafood sourced straight from the bay.

Continuing west, Kochi on Shikoku brings a different rhythm altogether. This is a working city with a strong regional identity, known for Kochi Castle and its lively food scene. One of the highlights here is katsuo no tataki, lightly seared bonito tuna prepared in open-air stalls, where locals gather in the evenings. The city feels unpolished in the best way, offering a look at everyday life rather than a curated visitor experience.
