Puerto Pollensa

We spent a lovely week in Puerto Pollensa on the island of Mallorca in early September. We decided to stay in a villa as we like to have our own space so chose a pretty traditional two-bedroom villa with private pool and garden about a 15/20 minute walk to the beach and Marina area of Puerto Pollensa.

It has been a few years since I have been to Mallorca/Majorca, but I had never been to this area before. What a pretty place with lovely bay and mountain views. It has managed to retain a Spanish feel but still cater for the needs of tourists with some very nice restaurants and shops to potter around.

Although we stay in a villa, believe me we eat out most nights. I have not gone on holiday to cook and after dinner at one of the restaurants along the front we enjoyed walking along the promenade that stretches around the bay.

We had an enjoyable day relaxing on the beach where you can hire a parasol and two beds for around 15 Euros. There are water sports available including kayaking. From the marina there are various boat trips to choose from too so plenty to see and do if you feel like exploring more.

Pollensa town is only a 10/15-minute drive from Puerto Pollensa (bus or taxis available if you don't have a hire car) and is very pretty with lots of restaurants and independent shops to look around. The Sunday market it worth a visit too and is spread around the town but go early as it does get very busy.

With a couple of good supermarkets, Puerto Pollensa is ideal if you want to cater for yourselves or like us get a few breakfast bits, a baguette for lunch and some ice for your G&T! If you prefer a hotel there are some good small independent options on the front to have the choice of eating places on your door step or there a couple of nice family options too if you fancy a few more kids’ facilities.

We liked Puerto Pollensa so much we are going again next year (2019) with our daughter, son in law and granddaughter! Get in touch if you fancy a trip to Mallorca and Puerto Pollensa!
