With 43 years’ experience within the travel industry, I can assure you that you have landed in the best possible place! I am your local Travel Counsellor based in a small village outside the beautiful old city of Oxford. I am proud to say I was born in the village of Wheatley and have lived here all my life. I live with my husband Alan and our gorgeous Parsons Jack Russell Terrier, Poppy who we adore!
All aspects of travel are a passion of mine, from caravan and camping where I pursue my love of walking, to soaking up the sun on an exotic sandy beach. But my favourite has to be doing a self drive holiday around beautiful Namibia! I have been lucky enough to experience some wonderful destinations over the years including as I say my favourite Namibia, the Indian Ocean, Thailand, The Caribbean, Mexico and very recently South Africa and Tanzania; not forgetting lots of European destinations! Whether it be a cruise, a city break or maybe a guided tour to some far away country; or maybe it’s that work conference that you need help with? I am here to guide you through it all.
I provide a unique travel service in that at Travel Counsellors we care.

I have used Janet Lewis twice recently to arrange travel to the USA. I found her after spending useless hours on various websites where I found it impossible to get people and robots to understand my requirements. A call and a few emails to Janet and it was fire and forget, She took ownership of my case and sorted everything. Bookings made all explained. I just had to press to pay button. If you want travel that is a bit more than a package holiday this is the way to go. I am going to see places on my time rather than an employer's and I will use Janet for her gold standard service.

Jan has in the past always gone the extra mile to find the perfect holidays for myself, husband and family. Many times I have been quite vague about where we want to holiday. Jan gently digs deep and comes up with ideas that we hadn't even thought of. We have had some fantastic holidays with Jan looking after us at every move. We had booked a British Isles trip for this June. Jan had found us a fantastic deal, with a super cabin. In fact, everything we wanted. Then of course Covid hit. My heart went out for Jan as she got on with sorting out the mess of every ones holidays. Then to cap it all, Our cruise line went pop. Again, Jan has worked tirelessly to get our drinks package and deposit back. She has lost so much and yet never complains. As soon as we can we will be calling Jan up to find us another holiday. We had the pleasure of booking our cruise through Janet at Travel Counsellors.
It’s not the first trip we have booked and we had no doubt we were in good hands. Jan made it so easy for me to find the right cruise company, the right route, and the right service level. What helped me so much is that she knew so much about cruising and I was able to consider lots of different options and chat about what she thought would suit us best. As a family with only one child (aged 6) we had to find something that ticked boxes for us and our daughter. I was particular about where we visited and in the end we decided that an Adriatic cruise in a mid-sized ship would be perfect. Jan couldn’t have been more spot on !

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday of Singapore and Australia organized by Janet. The main reason for the trip was a train journey on the Ghan which was sadly cancelled at the very last minute. This enabled us to see Janet and Travel Counsellors at their very best, by the time we found out about the cancellation she was already on the case with an alternative suggestion for us.

When I contacted Janet I wasn't quite sure where we wanted to go for our holiday other than somewhere sunny & luxurious. I gave Janet a budget to work with, the month we wanted to go away & specified that we would like day time flights. Janet came up with several options with special offers for us to consider & we were spoilt for choice! There was no worry about transfers & Janet dealt with everything once we made a decision. We did not feel under any pressure to book but Janet has found us a super holiday in Sardinia. Watch this space & after the holiday in May I will let you know how things went.

Jan has been arranging our family holidays for years - so when it came time to arrange the most important holiday of my life (the honeymoon) there was only one place to turn.
Organising a wedding is pretty stressful so to have some of that taken away by offloading the honeymoon onto Jan was a real god send. She recommended a number of resorts across the world and we eventually settled on a two stop in Bali.
Everything was planned perfectly and ran smoothly. Both resorts were absolutely sensational and all transfers etc were on time. Its just the fact that you dont have to spend any time worrying about anything that makes using Jan so worthwhile. You know it is all taken care of.
Finally, it is the little touches that really set Jan apart. Every step of the way there were little notes and cards sending best wishes and even some flowers to come home to after the honeymoon!

I am a very busy individual who finds it hard to believe that others can do something as well as I can. It's a flaw in my character. To trust someone to dot the i's and cross the t's and to put myself totally in their hands to organise the weird and wonderful places that I travel to. To trust someone to just get it right, right down to the station platform that I stand on is like letting go of the reins. I came across Janet quite by chance, and believe me she has made my job so much easier. I could spend hours during my working day trying to source flights and accommodation only to have it all change at the last minute. Janet has taken this stress away from me and even when I suddenly have had to amend something it has not been a problem.
