'Another day in Paradise'

In November 2018 I spent a week on the beautiful Island of Kanifushi which is situated in the Lhaviyani Atoll in the Maldives. The resort of Atmosphere Kanifushi can be reached by a 30-minute sea plane transfer. This is an experience in itself and a great start to the holiday flying over the Atolls and getting to see some of the other Islands and beautiful views.

Kanifushi Island is approximately 2km in length and 90 metres wide, with stand-alone beach villas and suites spreading along the beautiful turquoise lagoon. All villas have direct access to the pristine white beach, and it is a 5 star resort which offers a premium all inclusive – Platinum Plus.

On arrival to the island we were met by the manager and some of the staff with their friendly smiles and then taken to our room by golf buggy. I was lucky enough to stay in one of the Sunset Beach Villas, which are ideal for honeymoon couples. They have a large open-air veranda and a huge open-air bathroom with a standalone bath/whirlpool. The rooms are just so spacious and very comfortable indeed. The minibar was replenished daily and likewise snacks, the room had everything you could have ever asked for. Also, we got 2 bikes per villa to get around the island on.

There are several restaurants on the island, all of a very high standard. They have a pure vegetarian restaurant called ‘Just Veg’ and this is the first to the Maldives and was one of my favourite restaurants. All the food was of a very high standard and would highly recommend them all. There was even a pop-up Sri Lankan restaurant called ‘Ceylon Bliss’ which was in a beautiful setting, an ideal place to watch the sun go down.

Every evening the sting rays would come into the shallow waters for fish feeding and this was something fabulous to watch. This island is truly wonderful, and you can do as much or as little as you like. They have a gym, spa, sports & recreation centre and organise daily trips to reefs for snorkelling and fishing trips.

I have been to several islands in the Maldives and this is certainly one of my favourites. It’s an ideal place to relax and recharge your batteries for sure, and the staff could certainly not do enough for you. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you are looking for a holiday in the beautiful Maldives.
