Amazing New Zealand
Southern Wonders of New Zealand's South Island
We started
in Christchurch where we took the hop on /off tram to see the main sights.
Early the following morning we boarded the TranzAlpine train across the Southern Alps to Arthur’s Pass - the scenery was breath-taking and there is an opportunity to visit the outdoor viewing carriage too! We then continued on to Hokitika on the wild Pacific coast for lunch and photos. From there it was on to the wonderful Franz Josef, where I was able to see the glacier in all it's dramatic beauty.
Our journey then took us to Queenstown, adventure capital of New Zealand, where I even braved some very cold water dipping in the lake and we experienced jetboating on the Haast River. This was amazing. The colours of the water became bluer as we climbed and the clouds lowered

We took a long drive to Milford Sound which was so worthwhile - a real highlight: a rainbow appeared right out of the fjord to greet us, making the scenery even more magical. We continued to Te Anau to explore the glow worm caves, then on to Dunedin to discover the local wildlife on a boat cruise.

Finally, we travelled back towards Christchurch with a stop in Omarama and the unforgettable turquoise-blue waters of Lake Tekapo. It is truly one of those “you have to see it to believe it” places and for me was a "pinch me" moment!.

We covered a huge part of the South Island with many highlights and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to you.
