It's Colombia not Columbia!

Colombia: The adventure you didn't know you needed

Get there before the secret gets out!

Amelia Snare on 20 Sept 2025

I’ve recently returned from the most inspiring trip to Colombia—a country that’s bursting with energy, colour, and soul, yet still feels wonderfully untouched by mass tourism. If you’re searching for a destination packed with culture, adventure, and authenticity, now is the perfect time to explore before the secret gets out.

My journey began in Bogota, Colombia’s dynamic capital. Wandering through the cobbled streets of La Candelaria, I was immersed in a vibrant blend of history and creativity. The Gold Museum dazzled with stories of ancient treasures, and the city’s art galleries were bursting with local talent.

From there, I traded urban buzz for the tranquil beauty of the Pereira coffee region. Staying on a coffee plantation, I experienced Colombia’s famous hospitality first-hand and learned all about the craftsmanship behind every cup.

Next was Medellin, a city with a compelling, complex past and a confident outlook on the future. The transformation here is remarkable—you can feel the optimism everywhere. Climbing El Peñol offered jaw-dropping views, and the explosion of colour in nearby Guatape was pure joy.

Craving more nature, I ventured to Santa Marta and up into the lush hills of Minca. The landscapes here are rich and wild, perfect for hiking, wildlife and bird spotting, or switching off and soaking up the serenity. And then—what a contrast—the untamed beaches and rainforest of Tayrona National Park, where jungle meets Caribbean waves.

I finished my journey in Cartagena, a city of romance and history, with its beautiful colonial facades and buzzing streets. From charming boutiques and top-notch restaurants to the street art and rhythms of Getsemaní, Cartagena is a place to fall in love with, and development is bringing even more vibrancy to every corner.

Colombia is friendly, dynamic, and authentic—a travel experience still deliciously off the beaten path, but likely not for long. If you’re ready for colourful cities, dramatic nature, rich heritage, and warm welcomes, let’s chat about adding Colombia to your travel wish list.
