A Whirlwind Week in Sri Lanka: Culture, Nature & Hospitality
My week in Sri Lanka was a perfect mix of business and leisure, discovery and reconnection. Each day brought something new: - Hotel visits showcasing some of the country’s most stunning and welcoming boutique hotels —ideal for everything from honeymoons, family travels to wellness retreats. - A peaceful river safari, offering a glimpse of the island’s rich biodiversity and lush, tropical landscapes. - An exhilarating search for elephants in the wild - we didn't have much luck but we managed to see one! - A memorable visit to a local temple, complete with a serene moment spent chatting and sharing food with a monk - Peaceful beach walks at sunset and sunrise - Soul-soothing massages that offered the perfect way to unwind after busy days. - And of course, the delicious Sri Lankan cuisine—a true celebration of spices, freshness, and flavour.
Work and pleasure The trip wasn’t all leisure, though. My main reason for visiting was to attend the B2B Luxury Boutique conference in Colombo, where I connected with local suppliers and tourism professionals. These meetings were incredibly productive and reaffirmed just how much Sri Lanka has to offer travellers across all interests and budgets.
