Fabulous Holiday in Fethiye, Turkey!

Gemma Favager on 17 August 2024
This August I booked a last-minute holiday to the 4* Plus hotel. Club Tuana, Fethiye.

I have booked 100s of you to Turkey over the years, but this was my first visit, and after this experience it will not be my last!

The hotel is set in accommodation blocks within immaculately manicured gardens. It is a large hotel, but it did not feel it as there was plenty of space around the lagoon style pool and beach.

We were in the Park part of the hotel. This is like a sub hotel that has its own little pool and bar and is circa 7 minutes walk to the main hotel facilities. We nick named it the “quiet pool” as it was never very busy and was a nice place to enjoy a final dip before getting showered or a night cap before retiring for the evening. Another benefit of this area is that the balconies are bigger and could comfortably seat 2 of you with a small table. The balconies in the main section were much smaller and I have seen numerous reviews citing the same that you could not sit 2 people on them, so it is something to be mindful of if you enjoy watching the world go by together.

There is also an exclusive Lagoon section where the swim up rooms are located. Unfortunately, as they hotel was full I was not able to see inside but they looked fabulous from the outside.

The food has to be some of the best I have experienced when staying at an All-Inclusive hotel. I have never seen a buffet, when staying on this board basis with so much choice! It was HUGE! Not only that, but it also changed for every meal with live cooking stations all the time. Each evening had a theme such as Mexican, Italian etc and then there was always plentiful salads and local Turkish dishes as well.

The hotel also boasts 4 speciality restaurants that are included in the holiday cost, and we had no trouble booking them via the hotel app which you login to once you check in. These are set menus though and Roma, the Japanese option is adults only.

There are also 7 different bars, and my favourite was Poseidon which overlooked the sea. The sunsets here are stunning and it is an ideal spot for a sundowner!

Evening entertainment is varied offering a mix of Acrobatics, Turkish dancing to game shows. They also have main stage performances twice a week and these are excellent! Honestly, some of the best I have seen, I thought I was in Ibiza on our last night the DJ and dancers were unreal!

Younger children are well catered for with clubs focused on specific ages. They also have a splash park and smaller water slides. There is also an exotic bird’s section to visit, indoor play area and playground. The animation team do not start to do things with the older children until around 4pm when they play water polo and then football after. A lot of the daytime entertainment is aimed at adults which was highly popular with the German, Italian and French visitors.

The beach was again immaculate and cleaned daily. As it typical with Turkey, the beach was pebble/shingle mix but the water was crystal clear. I have also never seen as many lifeguards at a hotel as they have here. There are two dotted along the pier (the pier is amazing for jumping off, including a driving board straight into the sea which I also braved) and then 2 at the main swimming pool. There are also 3 waterslides inn their own section by the main pool which again has it’s own life guard on duty.

The hotel caters well for those who need flat spaces and ramps. All areas were accessible and the main pool also had a hoist chair making sure everyone could enjoy it :)

Fethiye is circa 25 minutes away and costs 70 lira each on the local Dolmus bus (we did that going to the market, it was very hot!) and a taxi is 650 Lira. I highly recommend going on a Tuesday which is the big market day. The market is very big and excellent for buying gifts for home. My boys have acquired a high number of new football kits!

The Old Town is beautiful, full of cobbled streets, lovely bars and restaurants and worth a visit on an evening. It gets busier as the locals start to come out which can be around 10pm. Calis Beach is closer and will take you circa 15 minutes and again is a lovely to stroll around.

We did a great 5 islands boat trip which took circa 3 hours, and we snorkelled in various locations including some caves. The coastline is just beautiful, and I highly recommend getting out on the water to see it.

The Adventure tour is also very popular and again one I recommend. You go zip lining, tubing and have the most competitive water fight with people in the other buggies!

There is so much to see and do in this region including visiting the Blue Lagoon at Olu Deniz and a boat trip over to Rhodes, it is somewhere I would go back to.
