In November 2025, I was very lucky to join a small group of Travel Counsellors for a 5 night trip to St. Lucia. I realised, I hadn't been to the island since 1996 and that was just for a day from a cruise ship!

Exploring and experiencing the best of the island – from lush rainforests and volcanic mud baths to making our own chocolate.  We stayed and visited 11 hotels, providing an insight into a wide variety of accommodation and explored both the North & the South of the island.

What really struck me the most was the people – they are the friendliest locals and gave us such a warm welcome and the island oozed laid back charm.... In the words of one of our hosts  ‘’It's the Caribbean - Everything takes a little bit longer, but it's worth waiting for! ‘’ – she wasn’t wrong!

During our 5 night whirlwind trip we explored both the North and South of the Island - St Lucia really lends itself to a twin centre – taking a speedboat or even a helicopter between the two ends of the island adds to the adventure:

In the South, think:

  • UNESCO World Heritage Site - dramatic and iconic Pitons (stunning views from our speedboat ride and from Sugar Beach, Anse Chastanet & Jade Mountain)
  • Hiking through rainforests & mountain climbing
  • Jungle biking: Anse Chastanet & Jade Mountain has 12 miles of private trails
  • Waterfalls
  • Sulphur Springs & mud baths: we took a mud bath whilst on the island.
  • Snorkelling and diving

In the North, think:

  • Boutique hotels tucked into tropical gardens (we visited Calabash Cove, East Winds Saint Lucia & Cap Maison);
  • Pigeon Island National Park (fabulous views from Fort Rodney);
  • Gros Islet: Renowned for its vibrant Friday Night Street Party (not for the faint hearted – it was quite an experience!);
  • Castries: The island’s capital;
  • Zip-lining: @Rainforest adventures – had a fantastic afternoon zipping through the rainforest!;
  • Chocolate making: Howelton Estate 1896 – this was great fun and thoroughly recommended;
  • Rodney Bay Village & Marina: yachting enthusiasts, waterfront dining and high-end boutiques;
  • Spa & Wellness: Many of the island’s luxury hotels offer world-class spas (Sugar Beach, Windjammer Landing) and wellness retreats (Bodyholiday Saint Lucia and StolenTime)

I was certainly inspired by St Lucia and look forward to returning for a longer stay!
