Norway’s Fjords Aboard MSC Euribia: A Journey to Remember
There are cruises, and then there’s MSC Euribia through Norway’s fjords – a journey where luxury meets breathtaking natural beauty. Over seven nights, I experienced world-class dining, exceptional service, and some of the most stunning scenery on the planet, from towering waterfalls to serene, mirror-like fjords. Join me as I relive each unforgettable stop along this extraordinary voyage.
From the moment I stepped on board, it was clear this ship was designed to make every day effortless and indulgent. Sleek interiors, comfortable lounges with panoramic views, and staff who seemed to anticipate your every need created a sense of seamless luxury. Meals were a highlight, from fresh seafood and Italian specialties to international dishes that rivalled anything I’ve experienced ashore. Even simple moments, like enjoying a cocktail on deck as the sea stretched to the horizon, felt exceptional.
Copenhagen
Our journey began in Denmark’s capital, a city that effortlessly combines history and modernity. I wandered along the colourful buildings of Nyhavn, watching the reflections shimmer in the canals, and strolled through the bustling city streets lined with boutique shops and cafés. For history lovers, the iconic Little Mermaid statue and the royal palaces offered glimpses of Denmark’s rich heritage. The city’s relaxed Scandinavian charm made it the perfect way to ease into the adventure ahead.
Flåm
Flåm, nestled deep in the fjords, immediately felt like stepping into another world. The village is small, yet perfectly positioned amid some of Norway’s most dramatic landscapes. I took the Flåm Railway, a journey that twists and turns through towering cliffs, rushing waterfalls, and lush green valleys. Each window offered a new, jaw-dropping perspective, and it was impossible not to pause frequently to soak it all in. Onshore, I enjoyed walking along quiet paths, breathing the crisp fjord air, and feeling the sense of scale as the mountains rose dramatically around me.
Geiranger
Next came Geiranger, a UNESCO World Heritage site, famous for its deep blue fjord and cascading waterfalls. From the ship, the Seven Sisters waterfall seemed almost mythical as it tumbled from great heights into the fjord below. I took a shore excursion that brought me closer to the waterfalls and through winding fjord-side roads, offering panoramic views that were impossible to capture fully on camera. Every angle revealed another stunning tableau – sheer cliffs, lush greenery, and the tranquil fjord waters stretching into the distance.
Molde
Known as the “Town of Roses,” Molde offered a softer, gentler beauty. Framed by snow-capped mountains, it was a place to slow down, wander, and take in the scenery. I explored the town’s charming streets and waterfront, and the views from the Romsdal Alps in the distance were simply breathtaking. Molde felt like a quiet pause in the journey, a place where nature’s calm contrasted beautifully with the energy of life aboard the ship.
Kiel
Our final stop, Kiel, shifted the mood with its lively German character. The waterfront bustled with cafés, shops, and maritime history, providing a perfect contrast to the remote fjords we had explored. I took a leisurely walk along the promenade, enjoyed local cuisine, and soaked in the atmosphere of a city that feels deeply connected to the sea. It was a vibrant, bustling finale to a journey that had been largely about serenity and natural grandeur.
The Perfect Balance
This cruise was the perfect balance of indulgence and adventure. Days at sea allowed me to enjoy the comforts of the MSC Euribia, from fine dining and wellness activities to quiet moments on deck watching the horizon. Days ashore brought raw, unforgettable landscapes and experiences that reminded me why Norway’s fjords are among the most spectacular in the world.
Every element – from the staff’s warmth and attentiveness to the meticulously prepared meals and the immersive excursions – contributed to a journey that felt both luxurious and deeply connected to the natural beauty surrounding us. Sailing on the MSC Euribia wasn’t just a holiday, it was a story – one I’ll remember and share for years to come.
