City Break in Vienna

I have just returned from a wonderful city break in Vienna. I flew with British Airways via London Heathrow. It’s about a 30 minute transfer by taxi into the city or you can take the train from the airport. Vienna is a large city with lots to see and do. You can explore on foot but most likely will need to use public transport to explore it fully. The local tram, train, metro, bus and taxis are great and reasonably priced too. You can purchase a Vienna City Pass from the tourist information in the city for 24 or 72 hours which offers free / discounted public transportation and attractions. I travelled with friends and we did the Big Red Bus which is good when you first arrive as it gives you a great feel for the city and you can pick out things/ areas you want to go back to. You pass many of the famous landmarks, palaces, fountains and museums. We visited Schonbrunn Palace which is beautiful and has huge gardens that you can wander around. Also a lovely cafe ‘Residenz’ where they make authentic Apple Strudel. We also visited Belvedere Palace, Museum, gardens and another lovely cafe. A wander around the city centre there are many designer shops and local shops to browse. You can also walk to The Opera, St Stephens Cathedral, several museums, The Spanish Riding School and so much more. All of the buildings are stunning you just walk around constantly looking up at them. There are many local food options with lots of street bar/cafes where you can sit and people watch. Restaurants, fast food takeaways and local street vendors for a Pretzel, Frankfurter and champagne ! A lovely few days away in a beautiful city, I would definitely recommend for a city break and I will definitely be back soon to explore further
