My First Cruise

Vikki Prescod on 30 March 2024
Despite selling cruises for years and years, I recently sailed on my first cruise onboard P&O's Iona to Northern Europe from Southampton. Our cabin was a balcony cabin with bunks for the children and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the word go by from the comfort of our balcony.

We ate at Olive Grove (a personal favourite), The Quays as well as the main dining rooms and the buffet. I only dined at restaurants included in our cruise fare and was delighted with the choice and quality. We also enjoyed an ice cream afternoon tea and this was easily shared between the 4 of us :)

We made full use of the ships child friendly facilities including the pools, children's discos, shows in the theatre as well as some jaw dropping performances in the Sky Dome. We also bumped into a few celebrities on board (Wallace, Gromit and Shaun the Sheep :)

Our ports of call were Hamburg, Rotterdam for 2 nights (allowing us to also exploring Amsterdam and lastly Zeebrugge from where we took the shuttle to Blankenberge.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first cruise very much, as did the children. There was lots to keep us all entertained for the week - so much so, that I have already booked myself on another P&O cruise on Iona's sister ship Arvia!
