If you haven’t yet used a Travel Counsellor yet - tut tut (only kidding). You might want to continue reading. Some things you might want to know about Travel Counsellors (and of course myself and how I run my business), before you consider picking up the phone to speak to me.

Firstly, who are Travel Counsellors?

We are an international award-winning company, one of the largest in the UK. Our global network has over 1500 personal Travel Counsellors. We were founded back in 1994 and offer 24/7 support when you book your holiday through us.

What makes us different? As I mentioned, we are an independent company so the holiday I provide is 100% the right holiday for you and not for me. We only use approved suppliers and have a full ATOL licence. Whatever you book with me will be financially protected with our Travel Counsellors Financial Trust, which allows me to offer you total financial protection.

Our in-house booking system has a full team of highly skilled developers working on it around the clock to ensure Travel Counsellors have access to the latest deals and best possible prices. Our connections with airlines, tourist boards, cruise lines and destination management companies around the world allows us to stay well connected, in the know and always bringing out the latest and greatest rates for our customers. Having those relationships gives you extra perks on holiday and can often lead to an upgrade or a special enhancement on your holiday.

What about me?

I have been a Travel Counsellors franchise owner since October 2013. Before becoming a Travel Counsellor, I had a long background in the travel industry, starting as a trainee travel advisor in August 2000 and working my way up in big high street store locations for companies such as Going Places/Thomas Cook and Virgin in my final role as a Retail Store Manager. What would make me leave a full-time job and salary to be self-employed?

I have always been a big believer in delivering the best customer experience and delivering excellent service which has not changed since I started. I’m very proud of the awards I have won along the years to showcase this. Working on the high street really didn’t allow me to deliver the customer experience my clients deserved. I wanted to be able to offer the right holiday for my clients, not the name above the door. Allowing as much time as needed to help make sure every holiday is perfect.

How do I offer better service than the high street or internet? I believe it’s because I genuinely care about your own holiday as if it was my own. I have over 17 years’ experience to draw from and, as you can see from my other blogs, I’m passionate about traveling so I can make personal recommendations for you. Using those recommendations, I can save you time and hassle searching for a holiday and stopping any confusion. I am around to talk and meet with you to go through everything. My job doesn’t finish when you book your holiday, it continues until you return home. Many of my clients contact me when it suits them and if I am free they will often get a reply instantly which amazes them that I even reply on an evening or weekend.

I work around my clients and when its best for them to talk. I can be available at evenings or weekends if that suits you best. I find a lot of clients like to put a face to the name and ask me to meet up for a drink and chat before I research the holiday and also to finalise everything which I am more than happy to accommodate. Working from home gives me full flexibility to be able to make this happen.

Things I do for my clients

I can tailor make your perfect trip. I take care of luggage labels and filling them in as I know this is a pet hate for many people. I deal with online check-in, API, visa help and speaking to the hotel with any special requests. Did you know I also help with excursions, restaurant recommendations and much more? I often get called by my clients a travel guru or travel concierge. Every holiday is tailored to your needs, from choosing the best flight times and room type to various transport options and seats on the plane etc.

My travel business is based on customer service scores, feedback and sales. All my business comes from word of mouth from my current customers. I have over 600 regular customers and this is growing daily!
