Why Goa should be your next winter destination
Goa offers a unique blend of beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, rich heritage and a laid back vibe suitable for families, couples and solo travelers. Sounds perfect? I was lucky to spend quite a few weeks here when working for Monarch Airlines.
There’s the bustling Baga and Calangute beaches which offer watersports and casual beach shacks. One of my favorite places to visit is Palolem beach, found in the south of Goa. It’s a crescent shaped beach with calm waters, fringed by swaying palm trees. It’s laid back bohemian vibe with little shops set just back from the beach makes it popular with backpackers, along with being able to stay a night or two in a beach hut as part of the experience. Come the evening there’s several bars and restaurants where you can watch the sunset.
Look up the Houseboat cruise that sails overnight. You could sail the waters of Siolim River, passing by small villages, churches and temples, with time to also enjoy some amazing beaches. Watch the sunset while enjoying dinner then wake up to the simple sound of birds and it’s likely you will see Dolphins too.

Hyatt Place in Candolim, Goa. Located in one of the main tourist areas, close to many restaurants and bars, Hyatt Palace offers chic luxury. If you like modern rooms, a wide choice of good quality food and efficient service then this is the place for you, whether you are traveling as a couple or family.
W, Goa in Vagator, Goa. Just outside of the busier northern areas, this hotel will appeal to those who love an Instagram moment, think Ibiza meets Goa! I love it’s boho look surrounded by flowers, stylish bar and Clarins products and great food.
Taj Exotica, Benaulim, Goa. They really pay attention to detail here and offer a high level of service. In the quieter area of southern Goa, the Taj Exotica is surrounded by tropical gardens and has its own gold course. It’s a place to people watch, sip cocktails and treat yourself to some Spa time. It also has a great range of restaurants.
