A little tropical downpour in the morning made breakfast at Fort Bazaar feel even more atmospheric. There’s something about gentle rain tapping on colonial walls, the smell of fresh coffee, and the soft chatter of other guests that makes a simple meal feel magical. This boutique hotel tucked inside Galle Fort perfectly blends colonial elegance with modern comfort I could have stayed there all day just soaking in the ambiance.

After breakfast, we enjoyed a private tour of the property and an inspiring presentation on the Teardrop Hotel Group, learning about their vision for sustainable luxury. It was fascinating to hear how thoughtful design, local craftsmanship, and environmental care come together to create a truly unique guest experience.

Next, we wandered out to explore the ancient walls of Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking along the ramparts, with panoramic views of the city on one side and the sparkling Indian Ocean on the other, felt like stepping back in time. The combination of historic charm, vibrant streets, and breathtaking coastal vistas left us completely enchanted.

From there, we set off along the coastline to our next serene stop: Thaala bentota, a peaceful beach escape that immediately invites relaxation. By evening, we were treated to a delicious dinner at Cinnamon Bentota Beach Hotel, with one side opening to the ocean and the other to a tranquil lake. Watching the sun dip below the horizon while enjoying fresh local cuisine felt like the perfect way to end the day.
