Customer Blog: Russell & Jacqui's Australian Trip March 2023

Long before the pandemic, we booked a holiday via a different holiday company – and about 5 days before our travel date , they rang us to say that it had fallen through, we were distraught because we were notified so late. The alternative holidays that the company offered us were either more expensive or simply unsuitable, so I opted to take a full refund.

This was when a good friend of ours recommended me to Lucy. I called her and by the end of the same day she had found us a holiday in Crete. We went, and we had a great time.

When my wife and I decided that it was time to visit our daughter in Australia we immediately thought of Lucy - as neither of us had ever been, nor had any knowledge of where to start.

I contacted Lucy and the first thing that struck me was her enthusiasm to hear from us again and help us arrange our trip. We chatted about where in Australia we wanted to visit, and I answered lots of her questions; I told her that our daughter was in living in Melbourne, so our plan was to spend some time there, but that we also wanted to visit Sydney and Adelaide plus have a beach holiday on the Gold Coast shared with our daughter. We chatted with Lucy about the duration of the trip, she then took away all of our information and came back with a fabulous itinerary that she had put together for us.

Our daughter works at a restaurant on the South Bank in Melbourne, and we asked Lucy to book a hotel located close to the restaurant and our daughter’s flat. Lucy came up trumps with a lovely hotel three minutes from the restaurant and five minutes from her flat. This was absolutely ideal.

For the beach part of the holiday, we travelled to the Gold Coast. It was terrific and really worth a mention. Lucy suggested we stop in Broadbeach South. This was a beautiful resort with great bars and restaurants. She booked us a two-bed apartment for the three of us to share. It was really special and had a real feeling of luxury in the way it was decorated. There was a lovely, shared pool at the apartments, and we were located only three minutes’ walk from the beach and about five minutes’ walk from the resort centre. This destination was a real highlight of our trip.

Lucy booked our flights there and back and also booked us seven internal flights. She booked accommodation for us in four different places. All of this would have taken us an age to do, but Lucy sorted it in only a few short days. What I can also say is that a friend of mine and his wife went to Australia at a similar time. They booked everything themselves and although we didn’t sit down and compare our costs; from our discussions I am fairly confident that Lucy obtained far more competitive rates.

In conclusion, I was delighted with what Lucy did for us, and we will certainly be using her considerable expertise again. She’s a lovely person.
