Ikos Porto Petro 5* Mallorca

I enjoyed a holiday at Ikos Porto Petro in October 2023. It opened in June, and everything looks very smart, new, and well looked after. The grounds are pretty with lots of flowers and with the sea views, there’s lots of photo opportunities. With everything included, spacious grounds, attentive service and the location it’s a perfect holiday destination.

Our Room: Deluxe Junior Suite Sea View We stayed in a Deluxe Junior Suite Sea view which is perfect for two but could fit up to three. There's plenty of space with a King Bed and separate seating area and balcony. The room had two TV’s, lots of wardrobe space and the bathroom had both a bath and a separate shower. We had sea views through the trees from our balcony. As with everywhere in the hotel the décor is natural, neutral colours. The minibar is included and refilled if requested.

Deluxe The Deluxe rooms are close to the Deluxe area with two pools and the ‘Seasons’ restaurant only available to Deluxe guests for breakfast and dinner. This restaurant is available to everyone with a reservation for dinner. The pool is an infinity pool with lovely sea views and is spacious with plenty of sunbeds. Other Deluxe treats include a massage each at the spa, a bottle of Taittinger on arrival, olive oil gift to take home (which we forgot to pick up), upgrade on the hire car & a wicker basket beach bag which seemed to be popular as everyone was using theirs around the pool. The other Deluxe benefit is a whatsapp service to contact the team with requests and questions. (We used this to order room service more quickly than ringing).

Pools & Beaches The location is lovely with lots of sea views. However, this is a hotel for pool rather than beach lovers as the two beach areas are small coves without much sand. The resort is spread out and there are lots of pools, so everyone has one near their room. Most of these are available to everyone but there is one adult only pool and a couple of pools only for Deluxe guests. There were always available sun loungers by each pool and reserving them is not allowed. My favourite was the infinity pool in the Deluxe area.

Restaurants & Bars As Ikos is All Inclusive Plus all meals, drinks and snacks are included. Reservations are required for dinner and three of these can be made in the Ikos app before arrival. The team then make reservations for the other nights for you. There’s a main buffet restaurant, 5 a la carte restaurants and Dine Out opportunities all included too. We ate in ‘Seasons’ for a la carte breakfast which is only available to Deluxe guests, The Market for buffet breakfast and had a room service breakfast. For lunch we tried The Beach Club (Beach vibe but not on a beach..) which was my favourite meal of the stay, The Market buffet and ordered from the pool menu. At dinner we tried The Market for buffet, and most of the a la carte restaurants. We didn’t try the Dine Out, in local restaurants. The food was all lovely and lots of choice with more attentive service and higher standards in the a la carte restaurants. 24/7 room service is also an option and non-stop food and drinks brought to your sun lounger! The hotel also surprised Tom with a birthday cake and more champagne. The contents of the minibar are also included. We also tried a couple of the bars including the Porto Petro bar and enjoyed testing some of the cocktails.

Spa As Deluxe guests we had a 30 minute back and neck massage included each which we had in a shared room. The spa has everything you’d expect including an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and was quiet when we went so, we had the place to ourselves. We didn’t try the gym or bike hire but did take out one of the pedaloes!

Local Discovery Apart from making restaurant reservations the other thing to book in advance is the one-day compliment Tesla hire car. This is available to all with Deluxe guests having an upgraded model. We used ours to travel to Drach Caves (about 30 mins away) which is ideal for escaping the sun. The car is yours for the whole day and you can order a take out lunch the day before to take with you.

Who would I recommend Ikos Porto Petro to?

Ikos resorts are already one of my most popular requests for 5* All Inclusive family holidays. I’d be happy to recommend Ikos Porto Petro to families, couples, and groups of friends. There are lots of young children around and only one adults-only pool so not ideal for anyone who especially requests adults only resorts. It would be ideal for a multi-generational family holiday with lots for everyone to do. The choice of dining options is a highlight and that everything is included.

Tips • Make your 3 restaurant reservations before arrival and if you don’t have young children book for after 8pm. • Book your complimentary hire car in advance & spa treatments on arrival. • The ‘Central’ Pool is adults only. • The ‘Deluxe’ bag comes in handy as an easy way to show you belong in the Deluxe area! • The Beach Club isn’t on a beach but is worth visiting anyway for a livelier atmosphere and some of the best food
