Is The Red Sea For You? - You Decide

Red sea holidays are an Egyptian specialist and I was lucky enough to go on an educational trip to see firsthand their accommodations portfolio in not one but four separate resorts. We flew into Hurghada and spent two nights at the 5* Grand Resort which is a great hotel for both couples and families, it is distinctly split into two areas with two large pools one more lively than the other so if you like peace and quiet round the pool then this one would be ideal.

With plenty of dining options available our first meal was to be at Nigma which has an oriental flavour to it, the food was fantastic and the entertainment was a belly dancer who encouraged a bit of audience participation from some of the ladies.

Day 2 and down to work as we went on orientations of all the properties in Hurghada we started in our own hotel the Grand Resort then just over the road to the 3*+ Grand Hotel whose grounds lead all the way down to the beach we looked at the various room types and took a tour of all the bars and restaurants available again 2 pools quite different from each other one looked brand new and had a swim up bar. At first sight the beach looked very crowded with sun beds and parasols but as you get up closer they are quite spread out and there are facilities to do all manner of water sports.

We then strolled on to what will be the Grand Marina this property is still under construction but one showroom was finished for us to view and it was stunning.

A short coach drive away took us to the 4*+ Grand Siva this was my personal favourite very light and polished marble also with private beach and a promenade over the water to have drinks or dinner of an evening, speaking of which our dinner that evening was back at base in an Argentinean Steak House my fillet was cooked to perfection and very tasty.

Very early start for day 3 as we headed off to Luxor which is on average a four hour transfer whilst I took in all the sights along the way I was also able to access the Internet and my emails courtesy of the free Wi-Fi available on all Red Sea Holidays coaches. Once we arrived we had the opportunity to see three of the Nile cruise ships on offer The Grand Prezioza, The Grand Star and the Grand Rose and I can see no better way of getting to see all the historical sites up and down this famous stretch of water. Whilst in Luxor we visited two such sites The Karnak and Luxor temples which are amazing.

Day 4 and after breakfast we were treated to a motor boat trip down the Nile just wish we could have gone all the way to the Aswan dam unfortunately the itinerary would not allow so back on the coach to Hurghada with afternoon at leisure and an Indian meal for the evening which was a sumptuous feast.

Day 5 and we took a short internal flight to Sharm El Sheikh first visit Soho Square near Sharks Bay with duty free shopping and bars/restaurants galore a cineplex, a bowling alley and it's very own Queen Vic there is plenty to do. Hotel visits next we got to view The Sharm Resort & Plaza, The Grand Sharm, Ghazala Beach & Ghazala Gardens before sampling the Naama bay experience.

Day 6 and short flight back to Hurghada after a 30 minute transfer we were viewing the Red Sea projects for the future at Sahl Hasheesh once complete this will be a much sought after resort. Five minutes drive and we arrive at Makadi Bay for a tour of the 5 hotels within the complex which caters to every taste from families to Spa lovers even its own waterworld.

Day 7 and we were treated to what is a popular excursion – a boat trip with snorkelling and a visit to Paradise Island to chill out and do whatever we pleased.

Word space does not allow me to go into too much detail on all properties visited so if anyone would like any more information on any of the Red Sea Holidays hotels just drop me a line or call.
