Niagara Falls is it all that?

My first view of Niagra Falls was from a helicopter and it quite simply breathtaking!

I got to see the falls in many other ways during our 2 night stopover at the fabulous Sheraton on the falls. My falls view room, high on the 21st floor presented this natural wonder of the world in all its glory both in the morning and bathed in light in the evening.

The first night we dined at the revolving Skylon Tower, which offered yet another way to see the splendour of the falls.

Day 2 started off quite damp as we took the famous ‘Maid of the Mist’ boat trip into the Horseshoe Falls, which is a truly amazing experience! After we had dried off a little we took a ride up to a local winery, Chateau des Charmes, which was set on a magnificent estate. Our guide gave us a fascinating tour and explained the process for making the famous Canadian ‘ice wine’ and of course the tour culminated in a chance to taste some of the products.

We then carried on our journey to Niagara on the Lake, which has been described as the prettiest town in Canada. Obviously I have not seen them all but I kind of know what they mean! It is picture postcard pretty and charming with a very laid back atmosphere. We took lunch at the Prince of Wales hotel (you can see how pretty this looks in the pictures)! After a stroll around the town and down by Lake Ontario we took the scenic route back down to our hotel.

Our second evening was to casually wander round the rest of the town, which is very touristy with a smaller version of the London Eye. It was an early night for the next leg of our Ontario experience The Muskoka Region……
