EPIC by name, EPIC by nature

After five action-packed nights in New York (see my previous blog!), we swapped skyscrapers for rollercoasters and hopped on a short flight to Orlando. The goal? To gather first-hand insights for the many clients I have heading to Universal’s newest creation — Epic Universe.

The park officially opened in May 2025, marking Universal’s biggest expansion in decades (the last major new park in Orlando was Disney’s Animal Kingdom, way back in 1998!). With so many of my clients visiting Orlando this summer, I wanted to experience it myself — and share all the insider tips to help you make the most of their day.

We checked into Terra Luna Resort, one of Epic Universe’s brand-new onsite hotels, the day before our visit. It’s sleek and modern, with a fantastic pool area, a lively lobby, and thoughtfully designed rooms — spotless, spacious, and surprisingly quiet. Check-in was busy but smooth and friendly.

The resort shuttle took us to the park the next morning — just a quick 5-minute ride. We arrived just before 9am to find queues already forming. But as VIP guests, we breezed through biosecurity and check-in, with time to explore Celestial Park, the lush, landscaped central hub filled with shops, a gorgeous carousel, and gateways to each themed land.

We joined a group VIP tour (up to 12 guests), which began at 9:30am. There’s also the option of a private tour for up to 6 — ideal for families or groups wanting a bespoke experience. While it’s a premium offering, the VIP route is hands-down the best way to enjoy the park in one day. Front-of-line access, a dedicated guide, and brilliant behind-the-scenes insight — it’s the ultimate way to beat the crowds and soak up everything Epic Universe has to offer.

Our guide, Brad, was phenomenal — full of energy, knowledge, and great tips. We learned so much more than we ever could have on our own.

We started in the Wizarding World – Ministry of Magic, home to Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry — already one of the park’s most talked-about rides. Sadly, it was temporarily down, so we headed to Dark Universe. Spooky, dramatic, and brilliantly themed — this land delivers classic Universal thrills. We braved two intense rides here, plus the jaw-dropping Stardust Racers coaster. I’m glad I did it… but once was enough!

Next was Super Nintendo World, and this is where the VIP lanyard really came into its own. We walked straight onto Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, skipping a three-hour standby queue. The ride is interactive, high-energy, and packed with clever tech — an absolute highlight.

Back at the Ministry of Magic, the ride had reopened — and it was spectacular. Incredible sets, immersive effects, and a story-driven experience that’s a must-do.

We wrapped up the tour in How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk. Even having only watched the film recently, I was blown away. The setting is magical, the rides are fun for all ages, and meeting Toothless was a highlight of the day.

Once the tour ends, you get to keep your VIP lanyard, which gives one-time express access to most rides and shows. Perfect for going back to favourites or catching anything you missed.

Food-wise, we started with butterscotch pancakes at Café L’air De La Sirène in Wizarding World — truly magical. For dinner, Toadstool Café in Nintendo World had the perfect mix of fun theming and genuinely good food (don’t miss the mushroom soup!).

A few other highlights: the Untrainable Dragon stage show — beautifully produced and genuinely emotional. And the circus-style acrobat show in Celestial Park — great fun for all ages. In Nintendo World, we picked up Power-Up Bands that let you interact with the land — collect coins, complete challenges, and even battle bosses. Brilliant fun for kids and grown-ups alike, and a great reason to return.

Epic Universe is a game-changer. With its stunning lands, next-level attractions, and thoughtful details, it’s already a must-visit. Whether you’re planning a family holiday, couples getaway, or thrill-seeking adventure, I’d love to help you make it unforgettable.
