Mystical Marrakech

We Flew to Marrakech in about 3 hours. I was expecting dirt tracks once we exited the airport, I was shocked! it was very westernised, Wide American style roads with traffic lights and pavements not what I had expected at all. We stayed in a Riad ( a traditional Moroccan guest house) as we wanted to experience the real Morocco and not feel like a Tourist in a hotel. We stayed just outside of the Souk, about 8mins in a taxi. Our Riad staff would call us a cab when we wanted to go there and he would walk us from the riad to our taxi, which was lovely as we were 3 ladies travelling ( we felt very safe) . The Souk was amazing, lots to buy and bartering was great fun. We went to a 4* Hotel one day to visit and used the Spa - that was amazing! The food we had was fantastic, again lots of Westernised Moroccan themed Restaurants. On our last night we went to the old palace which is now a 5* Hotel (Le Sultana), it was like going to the Ritz in London, Red carpets all lit with Lanterns, We ate a lovely meal on the rooftop restaurant. If we had been there longer we would have gone to the Atlas mountains. I would go back tomorrow if I could, Fantastic Holiday.
