Las Vegas - not just casinos

I think people always associate Las Vegas with Elvis (he wasn't in the building), casinos, the Rat Pack and mobsters. It is so much more. We viewed 16 hotels and the originality of the art work and design really is amazing and every hotel has its own personality. The shows are incredible I have been to Vegas before and saw Jersey Boys. I loved the Beatles music tribute by Cirque de Soleil which was breath-taking.

This time I saw 'Le Reve' (the dream). This show is outstanding and is based around water so there are synchronized swimmers and high divers all telling the story of the dream. It is a pretty stunning production that you will never see anywhere else. It is a true one off.

We also had an award winning crooner in our hotel - Michael Monge who sings in the East Side lounge in the Encore with his band. He does a lot of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Dean Martin numbers. Plus the cocktails in this lounge are potent so they are not mean on the alcohol! When we were in the bar we heard on the grapevine that Sylvester Stallone, Arnie, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga were in the house but alas they didn't pass by. Bit like seeing the big five on safari on day one.

In the Wynn they have an area called the lake of dreams which has a 40 foot waterfall that turns into a show created by 4000 lights and holographic projectors. It is very Avant Garde and never crowded. We watched by the edge of the terrace.

The Mob museum is a must to visit but we didn't have enough time to get around it (we had a flight to catch)! When I return to Vegas I will most definitely visit it again and spend more time here. There are films, photos and exhibits through the decades, even FIFA now gets a mention! It is on the double decker route in the old town not far from Freemont Street so you can kill two birds with one stone. But I think it is a must as there is lot to see and it is really interesting.

Yes I had a go on the slots in the casinos, on the 1 cent ones as I am not brave enough to do the roulette and blackjack. It’s a great way to get free drinks!
