Isle of Wight

Wonderful memories of family holidays as a child spent on The Isle Of Wight, drew us back for a little short break between Christmas and New Year 2015. We based ourselves in a B&B near Cowes but there are many options from hotels, apartments, lodges or caravan parks.

Taking your car on the ferry from Portsmouth or Southampton makes you feel like you are going overseas but if you are not taking a car, you can travel as foot passengers and can get the catamaran from Portsmouth to Ryde and there is a very good bus service on the Island.

We enjoyed whistle-stop visits to childhood haunts like Alum Bay and The Needles, Freshwater Bay, Ventnor, Shanklin, and Sandown. Also a brisk walk along the front in Ryde before a visit to the cinema and a hot chocolate.

Whenever you decide to go, for a Summer Holiday to a Winter break and all in between, The Isle of Wight is a lovely place to go.
