Stunning Antigua!

12 June 2019

I was recently lucky enough to travel to Antigua on a Travel Counsellors Trip. A big thank you to Joel and Sean from the Antiguan and Barbuda Tourist Board, Virgin, Elegant Resorts and everyone involved in making this trip so wonderful! We left London Gatwick on a Virgin flight. We flew in Premium Economy which was very spacious and is a very economical way to have some more space and upgrade meals and seating. If you like to spread out then you will find Premium with Virgin great, a footrest and leg support made all the difference on an 8-hour flight. The food was of a very high standard and we even had a mini afternoon tea! Plenty of room, a small cabin with attentive staff made the flight very enjoyable. Great choice of entertainment also to choose from. I found Antigua Airport very easy on arrival, not much waiting and passport control was quick and efficient, you fill out your visa entry on board your flight. Really friendly staff and lots of music and smiles! Colourful Antigua is the primary island of Antigua and Barbuda, known as Wadadli by indigenous Antiguans. With just over 100 square miles of paradise (that’s only 11 miles wide and 14 long!), Antigua offers a diversity of landscapes to encapsulate every Caribbean dream. Nelson’s Dockyard is the perfect choice for a day trip. The original British naval base was Britain’s primary naval base for the whole north-eastern Caribbean. The UNESCO-recognised heritage Georgian harbour is wonderfully atmospheric. A handful of bars, restaurants, workshops and museums sit alongside exclusive Antiguan hotels, catering to the sailing crowd who tend to dock here. We travelled to Hodges Bay for our first hotel stop and had a 2-bedroom beachfront suite. 1 master suite at the front with patio doors opening onto a lovely terrace with beach and garden views. A huge bathroom with a claw foot bath and lovely rain shower. Nicely decorated, a lovely big kitchen and lounge and a twin room towards the back of the suite, 2 full single beds that can also be made up as a double. Overall a very lovely suite. We also had a good look at the villas and standard rooms at this resort which were lovely. Wonderful pool areas and a great beach, smaller than some but lovely clear water and white sand. The adults pool had a really nice view out to sea and a swim up bar. Kids clubs were being established as this is a new hotel. A family pool with separate rooms with curtains and sofas in with TVs if you want to get the little ones out of the sun in the afternoon. Cabanas in the pool will be a hit also! Breakfast here is on a large terrace overlooking the sea, lovely choice of food for breakfast. Plenty of fresh fruit and bakery items. You can order fresh cooked breakfasts from the menu also. You can also get a boat from Hodges Bay Resort to Prickly Pear Island and stay for half a day and swim, snorkel and have a lovely jerk chicken or fresh fish lunch. I would highly recommend this, it looked pristine and was well worth the visit. At Blue Waters Resort and Spa, we had Rock Cottage for the day which was a 5-bedroom villa. You can have a personal butler, chef here and I have to say the views and villa were simply stunning. We had steel drums while we had lunch, a few small pools to choose from also and well thought out accommodation. Lot of water sports for all the family and I thought the gardens were stunning! You have a good choice of restaurants and things to do here. I do think that if you are planning a wedding the Blue Waters Resort is perfect, a stunning walk down to the cliff through a wonderful garden area. I can highly recommend this hotel, a wonderful spa and a great feel. I would highly recommend the Cover Suites also, in buildings of 4 with a private pool. It is also worth mentioning that if you stay in Rock Cottage you have your own jetty where you can swim to an almost deserted beach. While staying at our chosen hotel we did an island jeep tour with kayaking in the mangroves, this was not so far and was really enjoyable. I would recommend it for all, you just need to be reasonably fit and healthy but it’s good for families and couples alike. You get some wonderful insight into the mangroves and how they protect Antigua, whilst seeing amazing wildlife in and out of the water. We also visited Curtain Bluff, one side Atlantic with crashing waves and a stunning beach the other calm and tranquil Caribbean with beach waiter service and very comfy sunbeds! A wonderful beach restaurant and great evening entertainment, a lovely atmosphere. Great if you love tennis, a wonderful spa also with beautiful sea views. Large rooms and gorgeous sea views. A lovely atmosphere with lots of couples enjoying the evening entertainment. We had lunch at a few local restaurants which I think is so important, the best fish and Caribbean cuisine rustic but lovely, a great vibe at Annas on the Beach. This is set on Dickinson's Beach, a wonderful cocktail bar and outside eating area. http://www.anas.ag/ Dennis on the Beach had amazing goat curry and fish or jerk chicken, amazing views out over a pristine beach. Perfect for a swim. http://www.foodanddrink-antigua.com/item/antigua-dennis-beach-bar-restaurant/ We then visited Nonsuch Bay which was beautiful. You can see for yourself with this video. https://youtu.be/G7pUET1vzOs A great choice of rooms and villas, some for families and they do have an adult only side to the resort with infinity pool and spa. You can have a room with garden or sea views with its own small infinity pool, they will even set your table and host a private dinner for you! A very friendly good value hotel, lots to offer! The Inn at English Harbour. Situated in one of the Caribbean’s most stunning and captivating islands, The Inn is surrounded by its own national parkland, immersed in lush tropical gardens and delights in the sparkling sandy beachfront of Freeman’s Bay where guests can enjoy the warm Caribbean waters, making it one of Antigua’s most picturesque and intimate locations. Historic and atmospheric with its own wonderful beach and gorgeous restaurant. Antigua is great year-round, even in May which is low seasons it was hot and very little rain. I would highly recommend this wonderful Caribbean Island to all.

Accessible Travel

07 March 2019

Hello, my name is Natasha Lawrence. I am a Travel Counsellor, part of a unique family of travel agents who work on a very personal level. I am based in Framlingham; Suffolk and I am able to come and see you at home if easier or you can chat to me on the phone or by email if easier. Working in travel is a great privilege and something I have been lucky enough to do for over 20 years now. I have travelled extensively myself worldwide and have a really good knowledge of the world. I joined Travel Counsellors in 2011, it has been a fantastic journey and I have learned so much. I have lived in Australia, Israel, Italy and Spain. I spent a lot of my younger years backpacking around the world and now have my own Franchise with Travel Counsellors. I have many areas of speciality, one of which is Accessible Travel, which I feel passionately about. Having a young son with Autism has indeed helped me understand the needs of those with a hidden disability on a personal level. However, working with families with children and young people with Autism has also opened other areas for me. I will be a new face at the Autism Anglia Conference in June 2019 at Colchester University in June 2019. I will soon appear on the Local Offer for Suffolk also, bringing to the forefront what Travel Counsellors offer and hope to achieve. I have made some good links with other professionals with the same passion and together we will make travel truly accessible for all. Whether you have a Hearing, Sight, Physical or Hidden disability you do have the right to travel with dignity and respect. We are striving to offer this as a primary service for those who need it. So, what can we offer you? In short, we will offer a full Travel Agency Service with a 24/7 helpline. Full financial protection on everything you book with us. Please see our website for links to our financial protection. We will organise assistance from start to finish, as little or as much as required at the airport, onboard the flight. Maybe you need oxygen or help to your seat or boarding. Some people will need wheelchair assistance or just to get on board in a calm and quiet way. Without all the hustle and bustle, pre-boarding and help to the gate before your flight? We will liaise with your hotel or tour operator and make sure you have the most accessible room. It is all possible with our help! Please do feel free to visit my website: www.travelcounsellors.com/natasha.lawrence or follow me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NatashaLawrenceTC/

Breathtaking Kefalonia!

03 December 2018

I had an amazing stay at the Villa Costa in Skala in August 2017. I stayed for seven nights and this adults only hotel was really lovely with only 8 rooms, all individual which made it seem quite quirky and personal. There is a stunning garden and pool area, a lovely terrace and bar where you can eat al fresco. The Villa Costa often has a half board upgrade available, which is well worth it as the food was very good. I am quite fussy and didn't find anything I didn't like all week. A pleasant stay with wonderful staff, the owner Marios clearly puts his heart and soul into the hotel. Earning many repeat customers each year, perfect for couples! Very sociable in the evenings if you fancy company, informal but smart and a lovely wine tasting evening and great food and company! Kefalonia itself is simply beautiful and I think my favourite Greek island. I have uploaded some wonderful photos and hope you enjoy seeing them.

I honestly can not recommend Natasha highly enough. Have had several holidays booked through her and the most recent being the northern lights. What an incredible experience!! Everything about the trip was amazing from the husky sleigh ride to snowmobiles. We were so very lucky to see the northern lights every night we were there, which made the trip extra special. Even without the seeing the lights we would have had a fantastic time. Natasha always makes the time for you and it’s so reassuring having someone on hand to help. Thanks Natasha just need to get our next one booked

I have just returned from yet another amazing holiday that I booked through Natasha. This was a mother/daughter trip to Finland to see the Northern Lights and take part in lots of incredible experiences during the stay. From the moment I booked the holiday to returning home from it Natasha has really looked after us even compiling a list of clothing and equipment to take to help us in the snowy conditions - thanks to this list we were well equipped and never felt chilly. Natasha really takes the time to ensure the trip runs smoothly for you so you have nothing to worry about except to enjoyt he holiday and she makes sure you know how to get in touch with her whilst you are away in case you need any extra support. This isn't the first time I have booked with her and it certainly won't be the last, first class service from a truly lovely person.

Hi, all you people out there wondering whether to have a holiday in the snow! We have just returned from a glorious week in Finland which exceeded our expectations in everyway. Natasha at Travel Counsellors, held our hand through all the initial booking and red tape caused through existing health issues and age bars, resulting in a fairly painless start to our Winter sport holiday. All the included excursions were as described and all were great fun, we did add one extra (ice fishing), just for the man of the house, and felt this was enough activities to do as we also wanted to explore the local area by foot, even walking to Sweden!! The logistics of booking everything to time with three hot food breaks was nothing short of miraculous. Our room had the most delicious view from the picture window, with very comfortable beds and showering facilities en-suite. Nothing too much trouble for the staff on site at Davvi Lodge,. We have never eaten so well and enjoyed so much comfort and excellent customer service., they really cared we had the best holiday break ever. We stayed in the Lodge because we didn't want to have to keep dressing for the outside weather, but the cabins and mini lodges all looked inviting for the more hardy. From Snow shoeing to Snow mobiles ,Trekking to Husky sledding and lots more, all the staff went the extra mile ensuring we were enjoying ourselves in an alien environment. Full marks to Davvi Lodge, and full marks to Natasha at Travel Councillors for giving us a holiday to remember. We can whole heartily recommend Natasha Lawrence as a person who wants to tailor a holiday specifically for the individual and for taking us under her wing. We are sad now we are back in UK but have made many marvellous memories which will sustain us until our next adventure, when we shall be calling Natashia again. . . .

We booked a Northern Lights trip to Lapland staying for 4 nights at the Davvi Lodge Hotel. We flew from Norwich which was good for us. From the beginning Natasha was on top of all the details. She kept us fully informed about all details of the holiday and was always available for any questions we may have had for her. The holiday itself was excellent, there were a number of activities included in our holiday. These were: An introduction to Snowshoes. This was our first activity and was not as easy as it looked. Tiring but enjoyable. A Guided Fell Walk. You are guided through the forest by the hotel to a highpoint in order to have a clear view of the Northern Lights. Snowmobile Trek. You and a partner share riding a snowmobile from the hotel, over the frozen river into Sweden, then back to the hotel. Husky Safari. This involved you and a partner sharing driving a husky drawn sled then meeting these beautiful dogs afterwards. Reindeer Farm. This involved a leisurely trip being pulled by a reindeer in shared sled. It was obvious from watching the handlers interactions with both the dogs and reindeer that these animals are superbly looked after. Natasha accompanied us on the trip and was available throughout. All meals were included (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and the food was really good. There were 3 choices for both lunch and dinner, most choices were meat based but the hotel did provide individual dietary requests for guests. The staff at the hotel were excellent as were the guides for the activities. Natasha really set up a great holiday and it was great value. The star of the show, the Northern Lights, were seen every night and were spectacular. Thanks Natasha

Natasha has been absolutely amazing at sorting a snowboarding holiday for me and my boyfriend and getting everything booked. With life being so busy it was looking like it was going to be stressful to try and get this holiday booked and as we wanted it in the time we wanted it. Especially as we had no idea how to go about it all with it being a bit more of a complicated holiday. She made it all so easy though for us. She succeeded astoundingly with everything we asked from her. Her responses were quick and she was so easy and available to contact. She took the stress away from us and now we can just focus on looking forward to our holiday. Whatever we gave her she managed to sort it and achieve it. She was very knowledgeable too and advised us on a bunch of different things that we didn't even think about or realise. She also helped me and my family with going on a trip to lapland Finland which was an absolutely wonderful time. Out there I even got to meet Natasha in person and she was so lovely to have a chat with. Such a wonderful and helpful person too and It was a real pleasure to meet her. I would highly recommend Natasha to anyone trying to book a holiday as I really couldn't praise her enough for her work and her work ethic. You can really tell she enjoys what she does which makes all the difference too.

Just back from our first ever cold weather trip to Finland. Usually spend our holidays in the sun but thought we’d give this four night trip a go and were not disappointed. What an incredibly organised trip from start to finish. Totally stress free with all the meal times and excursions etc worked out for each group. We pretty much covered everything we wanted to do from husky mushing right through to snow mobiles. The icing on the cake was seeing the northern lights every single evening, memories we will take to our graves. The hotel was exactly what we expected, almost like a large cosy lodge, warm, great food and great staff. Will definitely be using Natasha in the future when we need our trip organised, great communication and nothing was too much trouble, a big thank you for an amazing holiday Natasha. From Terry & Sara.

Helpful, Interested, Professional, Enthusiastic, Knowledgeable, Supportive, Inspiring, Tenacious, all these and more, Natasha inspired us to consider visiting a part of the world we had never thought of before, It was a challenging journey, with hurdles of health and age to overcome, but she was with us all the way with encouragement and support. We now look forward to an amazing adventure, out of our comfort zone, and the ability to create memories for our years ahead. We can whole heartily recommend Natashia. . Mark and Elle Wiseman.

Natasha is amazing, listens to our needs and requirements and then found us a wonderful holiday. She is flexible and nothing is too much trouble whether it be a big query or even the smallest detail she wants to get it right for us. Very friendly and approachable. Very thorough. Would recommend Natasha to anyone.

Sent by Alison Collins

Nastasha is professional, friendly and helpful and I know goes the extra length to ensure the holiday that I book with her is exactly the one that I would like to have. I have no hesitation in recommending Natasha and I even did just that at the weekend to two friends who are looking to book trips away this christmas.

Natasha shaped a very special family experience for us, a wonderful Lapland break for the four of us with both sets of grandparents that was exactly how we'd hoped and imagined it would be. Everything we did was like being in a Christmas card. Without her guidance though on resort and package I think we might have spent a lot of money to be disappointed. She took the time to understand exactly what we were looking for for our budget. More than that though when, through our own fault it all went pear shaped with a passport emergency, she was unbelievable. Her knowledge of the system, network of contacts, attention to detail under pressure completely rescued us. Incredible service, real value. When its a break that's a bit special I'd thoroughly recommend using a Travel Consultant and Natasha is a star amongst TCs.

Sent by David Hall

Natasha has provided an excellent personal service for a range of trips. She pays attention to the details and doesn't just treat you as another job. I have recommended her to friends and family and have no hesitation in doing so.

Sent by John Laidlow

Natasha has been nothing short of outstanding. She is a very committed agent and one whom I will be doing much more business with in the future.

Sent by Audrey Alexander

I always have found Travel Counsellors most helpful and I recently passed Natasha's details onto a friend who was most impressed with the service she received.

Sent by Phil Barker

Natasha provided excellent service for our 2012 family holiday, and for booking our 2013 holiday, she provided the same excellent standard of service. Thanks Natasha.

Sent by Penny Burr

Natasha has been a star the last two weeks with her expertise and knowledge and advice. She is so easy to talk to and is always on hand to answer any of our questions no matter how small or large. Thank you.

Thank you Natasha for taking the time and trouble of finding a holiday cottage in Cornwall off our hands. We had previously spent hours searching through brochures and websites which came to nothing apart from our minds boggling. If it wasn't thanks to Natasha and her contacts, I don't think we would have had as good a holiday as we did.

Sent by Nicholas Spree

Natasha was incredibly helpful and so knowledgeable about the specifics of my holiday. She assisted with all requirements and responded to any requests within moments. I would highly recomend her to all. Thank-you!

Sent by Colin Howe

Natasha tries to give us exactly what we want as customers, advises nicely about different things available without any feeling of pushiness, which is why I feel that ten is well deserved as I can easily recommend her to others knowing they will get the same service. I am not in anyway connected to Natasha and only found her through searching the web for a local TC as my parents had used TC in the past. I've now booked my second holiday through Natasha as it's the easiest way to get the holiday I want without having to trawl the net or travel agents in my spare time.

Sent by Madelé de Lange

A huge big thank you to Natasha for booking our holiday to Madeira. We were not sure of the destination we wanted to go to and Natasha made wonderful suggestions! She is so efficient and always willing to answer questions or come up with even more possibilities. We had a fantastic time, everything went so smoothly and Natasha took all the worries away of organising your own trip. Looking forward to booking our next holiday!

Sent by Colin Howe

This is the first time of using a Travel counsellor, normally I trawl the W.W.web for myself but after spending ages trying to find a ski chalet this year I decided to use Natasha (who I didn't know or hadn't even been recommend too, I Google'd T.c's as my parents always use them). Natasha has taken the headache away, she pinpointed our holiday requirements, booked the holiday and answered any of our queries promptly and clearly. And the holiday hasn't cost me any more than I expected to pay if I'd done the holiday myself. Great job, happy to use you again, and my son is looking to book his honeymoon in America through you. Thanks again - Colin Howe

I have booked many holidays with Natasha over the years as she always has an eye for a bargain and I even ended up with some holidays I did not know I wanted! I have always found her very efficient, knowledgeable and everything is handled like a personal friend.
