Brecon Beacons, Wales June 2021

In June 2021, we stayed in a Hot Tub Lodge in Brecon, Wales. We wanted to be able to go on scenic walks and relax in a quiet village.

We did exactly that, the lodge was set on a quiet park called Heronstone Lodges with only a handful of lodges on site.

We travelled with friends so we had a 2 bedroom lodge, I have to say the walls are so thin between the bedrooms they may as well not be there but having said that the property worked well for us. We had a private Hot Tub and self catering facilities so it suited our purpose.

We had a couple of good weather days, we played golf on a nearby course one day and the next we walked the Pontneddfechan and Ystradfellte Waterfalls Circular. It was nearly a 10 mile loop which was just stunning, there is running water all the way along the trail with waterfalls, tall trees and streams. The trail is not always flat, it had steps, bridges, bit of uphill walking but the amazing scenery was just endless. I would highly recommend it if the weather is nice, you can even take a dip in the water or jump of cliffs into the clear water below.

At the start and end of the trail there is a pub called The Angel which serves delicious food and was most welcome after a few hours walking and hiking.

On another day we visited Henrhyd Falls, this is really picturesque, here they filmed Batman's lair in the Dark Knight, you can walk behind the Falls, the trees are so tall you feel like you could be in the Amazon!

We were within walking distance of a small town, not too much going on there but had a pub, tea room and a short drive away was a supermarket so you can purchase all your food there for convenience if you like.

We also visited Aberavan Beach which is a very large sandy beach, it was very quiet there probably because it was overcast, but its still nice to walk on the beach, watch the crabs even if the weather is not so good. Stopped for tea and cake on the beach so a good day all round.

We were close to so many walks and trails, if you look on the All Trails app there are a lot to choose from.

For a bit of R&R and to be at one with nature, the scenery was out of this world.

A very nice part of Wales to go and visit.
