Vibrant Verona

We visited Verona after our train journey from Venice. Verona is definitely a place you can shop; there are hundreds of shops with side streets and main shopping areas covering all sort of clothes, gifts and household goods (if you wished). It is a large town and I would imagine you could spend all day shopping if that’s what takes your fancy.

Of course in town, you have to see the Opera House, the Arena Verona. This is where they host the summer Operas. Although we didn’t attend one, the area around the Arena is buzzing. There are cafes, street artists and you can purchase souvenirs.

You can take a tour bus around the streets of Verona quite cheaply and they will guide you around the sights. In one of the back streets of Verona you will find the house of Juliet (Romeo and Juliet). You can have your picture taken on the famous balcony and the walls are scribbled with messages of love.

You will find a statue of Juliet in the small courtyard and as you can imagine this is a very popular tourist spot.

We spent the afternoon here before we picked up a hire car to whisk ourselves off to Lake Garda under the guidance of our trusty sat nav (Italian map downloaded from home), which is about an hour’s drive.
