A week at Sandals Royal Barbados

Donna Bidwell on 01 February 2023
Our first holiday abroad without the children in 13 years and it was amazing!

I am lucky enough to of visited many Sandals resorts, and I love Sandals but this resort was by far my favorite. I loved Barbados, I love how we could walk out from the hotel and venture to other bars and restaurants and found everything about Barbados to be really lovely.

Arriving in to Barbados is a little chaotic as several flights arrive around the same time, so getting luggage can take a while. There is no where that sells water on this part, so try and take a water from the plane with you, in case you are waiting long.

Our transfer time was only 20 minutes.

I love arriving at a Sandals resort to be welcomed with a cocktail and “Welcome home” from the staff.

The room type we had was a Royal Seaside Crystal Lagoon Penthouse one bedroomed ocean view Butler suite with balcony tranquility soaking tub. The room was huge and in a superb location in the same block as the roof top infinity pool sky bar and the french restaurant. We loved this restaurant for breakfast, with the amazing views.

We had a bottle of rum, vodka, gin and wines in the room, with mixers, soft drinks and beers. These are replenished daily.

The moment we arrived I got all of our restaurants booked for the week. There are 21 restaurants, all included. 11 at Sandals Royal and 11 at Sandals Barbados. They both basically all go into one, although two separate hotels but it’s just a walk through and then into the next hotel. One of many things I love about sandals, is most definitely the food and the choices, all included, A la Carte is no extra and unless you are in a butler room, there's no need to Tip anyone either!

Make sure you look at what entertainment is happening, we actually didn’t end up watching shows but you don’t want to miss out on the piano bar nights, these are awesome! Friday night Oistins fish fry is a must if you can. It is a short taxi ride away and well worth going. Barbados is famous for this weekly event.

I would recommend if going to Kimonos, to do this early in the holiday, it’s a great way to meet others and such a fantastic night.

The bowling alley ‘Lovers Lane’ needs a booking, so be sure to book this. It’s a great atmosphere and is sandals first bowling alley. This is also where they have a silent disco one night and where they also show any major sports live, day and night.

We went on the Cool Running's Catamaran lunch party cruise and was so much fun! Swam with sea turtles and saw a lot of the island. This also included all drinks, food and snorkel equipment.

I recommend hiring a personal driver to see what you would like to see while here. We were recommended someone, who was amazing. He was $40 per hour and took us to where we wanted to go and where he thought we would like. We visited Rihanna’s house, fed the green monkeys at Sandy lane golf course, went to a shopping mall with some of the well known makes and visited some lovely points of interest. I now recommend Roger and pass on his details to all of my customers, who in turn have used him and, like us, they loved him too.

I could talk all day about why I love this resort and other sandals resorts to be honest. I have written blogs on others I have stayed at too, feel free to take a look.

Any questions, please contact me and I will happily help arrange your holiday here or any other resort.
