Lanzarote Holiday with the Children

I booked our holiday for 5 nights which was a lovely duration if you want a holiday but haven’t got enough time for 7 nights or you want to keep the cost lower. We stayed at the 4* Rio Playa Blanca in Playa Blanca, an all-inclusive resort which is approximately 45 minutes on a transfer bus from the airport.

I booked a 1 bedroomed apartment for the four of us which included waterpark access as well. This allowed us unlimited access to the water park at Paradise Island which was 5 minute away on a shuttle bus. The hotels also provide a complimentary shuttle service each hour to and from the other hotels which is great.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday here. The bungalow was very spacious. The great thing about the hotel is that all rooms are bungalows and everywhere has great access to everything in and around the hotel. The way the main pool area is laid out, with the gradual steps and railings, is also disabled friendly too. The main town/harbour area of Playa Blanca is about a 20 minute walk from the hotel, but there are also cheap bus services that you can use.

The food was lovely; there was always a good choice as well as a good choice for the children too. The animation team were great and my 5 year old loved the kids club which she attended for two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon. In the evenings, the mini disco starts in the early evening. This is followed by bingo or a game and then a show or singers later on. One thing to remember is that the animation teams do not work on Sundays so there is no kids club or nightly entertainment.

The main thing that I loved about this hotel, as well as the size of the bungalow, the lovely pools and the food, was the fact that we could stay in this hotel but also use the facilities (including food, drink and waterparks) at the Paradise Island hotel. However, out of the two, I would still recommend the Rio Playa Blanca as the Paradise Island was very busy with children and had a busy pool area. Having said that, if you don’t mind it being busy, this is a great family hotel.

I asked to be located close to the children’s pool, which we were, and we found this really handy. I was impressed that the hotel listened to my request. I found the staff friendly and helpful and the main thing was that the children had a lovely holiday. This is a great family holiday location with fun for all the family!
