Family fun in Guernsey

What an incredible week visiting family in Guernsey!

We packed a LOT in to one week! Flying with Aurigny from Birmingham airport (top tip, buy the fast pass for security, the airport was packed and the queues were long, we breezed through!) Flight only takes an hour and super easy to pick up a hire car at the airport, we used Europcar on this trip, but there was also Sixt and Hertz available too. We stayed at my brothers’ house on the west of the island, but there are lots of lovely, boutique hotels, the majority of which are close to St Peter port on the East, some with beautiful sea views (no chain hotels here!). We were also lucky enough to visit Sark and Herm on a private boat, but there are also regular ferries over to both islands multiple times a day during the summer months. It’s also possible to stay at a couple of guesthouses on these islands but these must be booked well in advance. Loads to do for families, paid activities and free, fantastic historical sights to explore, wonderful walks and clean, well maintained beaches to discover.

These are some of the things we got up to on our trip this year:

Candle making, Fun on the beach at Moulin Huet, Cobo Bay and Fermaine Oaty and Joey’s soft play (of course!) (also have a mini golf and lots of cute shops!) Mini golf at nineteen (also have a driving range and fab eatery there) Chocolate making class at Rebecca’s based at oatlands Dinner out at the Imperial pub Sunset walks along Rocquaine Bay Boat fun out to Sark, Cliff walk to the Sark chocolate shop, Caragh Swimming in the sea! Fresh but doable (wetsuits for kids if swimming in deeper water as it is a bit cool (18C) Cruise ship spotting, P & O and Oceania More boat fun out to Herm, Paddle boarding, Seal spotting (we’ve seen dolphins on previous visits!) Sun worshipping Birthday singing and Colin the caterpillar eating, (There is an M & S food shop on the island!) BBQs galore with amazing fresh fish and S’mores for pudding!

And plenty, plenty, plenty of delicious Guernsey ice cream!!!
