Staycation - Hoseasons Heaven

Mark Hallam on 12 July 2010
Just got back from a fantastic 4 night stay in the peak district we stayed at Hoseasons award winning Darwin Forest Country Park. We went with another family who has a Labrador and stayed in a 4 bedroom lodge which was so modern in every way – fully fitted kitchen with a washing machine, Mira showers and flat screen TV’s.

The facilities on site were amazing namely the ultra modern Swimming pool / Spa / Gym named Evolution, The phenomenal Little Monkeys play area , Tennis court , Mini Golf , The woodland store , Reception had an area for WiFi as did Evolution if you needed to stay in touch with the outside world , pool tables and an amusement arcade and last but certainly not least a proper pub called the Foresters Inn where you can get a very warm welcome from Mike & Julie these guys must be one of the many reasons so many people go back time after time we ate in twice and had a ‘take away’ once and on all three occasions no-one was disappointed or left hungry , great portions and value for money.

Lots of little touches which worked for me like the dog wash off area, two red telephone boxes as mobile phone signals are limited in the area, free BBQ hire, book swap library, DVD rental in the store.

I wanted to check on some emails I had received so went down to the reception area and set up. As I was there I got to see how efficient and helpful all the staff were as people dropped by and said that a lamp was not working or they needed a change of towels whatever their requests were dealt with instantly via walkie talkie to maintenance or housekeeping. One guy just need to be shown how to use the modern TV/DVD player and was seen to within minutes. Top class service from all on reception with a special mention for Becky as she looked after me very well. They also have a wealth of information about the surrounding area and what to go and see and do. We took a short drive over to the Heights of Abraham and rode up there in cable cars it was facsinating the girls also took another drive out to Chatsworth House.

Anyone who likes the country side and a peaceful environment will not be disappointed. I can highly recommend this country park to anyone with or without children/pets. I was totally relaxed and read almost 2 books during my stay.

It is open year round and Mike was even taking bookings for Christmas day lunch

I can fully understand how this park won the regional and national 2009 top park awards in Hoseasons
