I have just returned from my annual pilgrimage to the place that forever holds my heart, South Africa. Two glorious weeks filled with wildlife, adventure, culture, and all my favourite things. Every time I return, it feels like slipping into a familiar embrace, yet there’s always something new to discover. You all know by now that my love for this incredible country runs deep. It’s not just about the landscapes or the wildlife (though those are spectacular); it’s about the energy, the people, and that unmistakable feeling of being exactly where I belong. Langebaan: Where Laid Back Meets Adventure My adventure began with a quick trip to Langebaan, a hidden gem on the West Coast. This isn’t your typical tourist hotspot, but that’s what makes it so special. Known for its laid back beach vibes and world class kite surfing, it’s the perfect place to escape the crowds. With scattered beach bars, stunning lagoon views, and an unpretentious charm, it’s a little slice of coastal heaven. Into the Wild: A Luxurious Kruger Safari Next, I swapped the ocean breeze for the wild heart of Africa a long weekend in the Greater Kruger. March isn’t traditionally the best time for a safari in South Africa; the grass is high, making wildlife spotting more challenging. But safari is never just about the sightings; it’s about the magic of the bush, the stillness, the thrill of the unknown, and the connection to nature. Luckily for me, I stayed at an exclusive boutique lodge that isn’t even open to the public yet! With its intimate size and incredible location, we had the flexibility to track a pride of lions the moment we heard their roars, rather than sticking to rigid game drive schedules. There’s something indescribable about being out in the bush, watching the sun dip below the horizon, listening to the distant calls of the wild, it’s pure magic. Cape Town: Playing Tourist in My Favourite City Back in Cape Town, I make it a point to experience the city as a tourist would. Why? Because I want to ensure I’m giving you the best recommendations from your perspective! This year, I explored some of the city’s trendiest and most cultural neighbourhoods. Woodstock: A Craft Beer & Street Art Haven Woodstock continues to evolve as one of Cape Town’s coolest up and coming areas. If you love craft beer, this is your spot dozens of breweries and tasting rooms await, each with its own unique flavours and vibe. Add to that an explosion of street art, quirky coffee shops, and creative spaces, and you have a neighbourhood that’s brimming with character. Sea Point, Green Point & Gardens: Where I’d Live (If I Ever Moved Back!) Much like the V&A Waterfront, these cosmopolitan suburbs are safe, stylish, and packed with fantastic restaurants, boutique stores, and buzzing bars. If I ever moved back to Cape Town, I’d have a hard time choosing between them. Each has its own personality, Sea Point’s oceanfront promenade, Green Point’s trendy cafés, and Gardens’ leafy streets make them all irresistible. Bo-Kaap: A Colourful Step Back in Time No trip to Cape Town is complete without a visit to Bo-Kaap, formerly known as the Cape Malay Quarter. Famous for its brightly painted houses and cobbled streets, this historic area tells the story of Cape Town’s rich cultural heritage. Beyond the Instagram-worthy photo ops, Bo-Kaap is a place of resilience and history, home to the descendants of enslaved people brought to the Cape by Dutch colonists. A visit here isn’t just about admiring the vibrant facades; it’s about immersing yourself in the stories, traditions, and legendary Cape Malay cuisine. The Labia Theatre: Old-School Movie Magic Nestled in the Gardens suburb is one of Cape Town’s best kept secrets the Labia Theatre. As South Africa’s oldest independent cinema, stepping inside feels like a journey back in time. At just £3.99 per ticket, it’s not only a bargain but an experience in itself. Grab some popcorn, sink into the vintage seats, and enjoy an old-school movie night, Cape Town style. The V&A Waterfront: A Timeless Must Visit A trip to Cape Town wouldn’t be complete without time at the iconic V&A Waterfront. Usually, I visit in January when the summer crowds are in full swing, but going in March was a refreshing change, less crowded, yet still alive with energy. Whether you want to browse designer boutiques, explore craft markets, dine at world-class restaurants, or just soak in the views of Table Mountain, the Waterfront never disappoints. Until Next Time, South Africa Every visit reminds me why this country is so special. It’s not just the scenery or the wildlife, it’s the feeling you get when you’re here. The warmth of the people, the rhythm of the cities, the raw beauty of the bush it all stays with you long after you leave. As always, I left a little piece of my heart behind, but that’s okay it just means I will continue to return again and again.

As an Africa expert, I live and breathe this enchanting continent. It’s my go to place to recharge, and every visit reaffirms my love for its wild beauty. While South Africa will always be my first African love, when it comes to safaris, Kenya is king. And my latest trip to the Masai Mara was nothing short of magical. The wide, golden plains of the Mara are simply breathtaking. This is classic safari country where the horizon stretches endlessly, dotted with acacia trees, and teeming with wildlife. The Masai Mara’s abundance of game is second to none, and it truly delivers the ultimate safari experience. But what makes this place even more special is the culture of the Masai warriors, their deep connection to the land, and their stories that bring the Mara to life. During my trip, I had the privilege of staying at Mara Bushtops, a luxury bush camp that redefines the safari experience. Picture this: a private tented suite with a front row seat to the African wilderness, overlooking a salt pan that constantly attracts wildlife. Every morning, I woke up to herds of elephants, zebras, and giraffes right outside my tent. And every evening, they were still there as I drifted off to sleep, the sounds of the bush lulling me into dreams of adventure. The service at Bushtops? Next level. From the moment I arrived, I was met with warm, personalised service that made me feel like royalty. Nothing was too much trouble, and every detail was thoughtfully considered. From incredible game drives with expert guides to sundowners in the most breathtaking locations, every moment was crafted to perfection. Honestly, it’s an experience that will be hard to beat. If you’re looking for a safari that combines adventure, luxury, and an unbeatable wildlife experience, Kenya and particularly the Masai Mara should be at the top of your list. I love the excitement of getting onto that light aircraft and flying into the wilderness of the Kenyan bush, and it's just a feeling that I think its struggled to replicate in any of the other African countries. I know I’ll be back... because once you’ve experienced the magic of the Mara, there’s no staying away.

I’ve had the incredible privilege of visiting destinations around the world, but my recent work trip to Sri Lanka was truly life changing. This island nation, with its vibrant culture, warm hearted people, and stunning landscapes, left a lasting mark on me that I never anticipated. From the bustling streets of Colombo to the serene tea plantations of the highlands, Sri Lanka offers a journey through a tapestry of experiences that enchant and inspire. Walking along the ancient ruins, savouring the aromatic spices, and witnessing the breathtaking beauty of national parks felt like a step back in time and a moment to appreciate life's simple wonders. But it wasn’t just the sights. Sri Lanka is about connection meeting the locals, hearing their stories, and embracing the kindness and resilience that define this land. Every encounter added something profound to my experience, and by the end of the trip, I found myself planning my next return. Travel often gives us a window to another world, but Sri Lanka gave me a mirror, reflecting my own journey, growth, and love for this industry. During my 2 weeks in this amazing destination we did a huge about of exploring , and I stayed in some of the best properties on the island, as well as visiting many others. I’m thrilled to share more with my clients, and I can’t wait to help you discover the magic of Sri Lanka too.

Nestled on the southwestern coast of Cyprus lies the enchanting town of Paphos, a destination steeped in history, mythology, and natural beauty. My recent journey to this captivating corner of the Mediterranean was nothing short of mesmerising, as I found myself immersed in a tapestry of ancient ruins, sun-drenched landscapes, and warm Cypriot hospitality. My first stop was the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kato Paphos Archaeological Park, where the remnants of ancient civilisations whisper tales of bygone eras. From the intricate mosaics of the House of Dionysus to the majestic pillars of the Tombs of the Kings, every step felt like a journey back in time. Legend has it that Paphos is the birthplace of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, and nowhere is her presence more palpable than at Petra tou Romiou, also known as Aphrodite's Rock. As I stood before the azure waters and the imposing rock formation, I couldn't help but feel the timeless allure of this mythological landmark. The allure of Paphos extends beyond its historical sites, with pristine beaches inviting leisurely strolls along the coastline. I spent blissful afternoons basking in the Mediterranean sun and indulging in fresh seafood at seaside tavernas, savoring every bite of traditional Cypriot cuisine. As the sun dipped below the horizon, I found myself drawn to the Paphos Harbour, where the pastel hues of the sky painted a picture-perfect backdrop for an evening of tranquility. Watching fishing boats sway gently in the harbour, I reflected on the timeless charm of Paphos and the memories I had woven during my stay. Leaving Paphos felt like bidding farewell to an old friend, promising to return and unravel more of its secrets. From its ancient ruins to its sun-drenched shores, this corner of Cyprus had left an indelible mark on my heart, reminding me of the enduring allure of travel and the joy of discovering new horizons. Paphos may be just a dot on the map, but in reality, it's a world of wonders waiting to be explored. During my stay I stayed at the renowned Coral Beach Hotel & Resort, from the moment I stepped onto the hotel grounds, I was greeted by the soothing sound of waves and the salty breeze of the Mediterranean Sea. The Coral Beach Hotel & Resort boasts a prime beachfront location, offering guests direct access to the pristine sands of Coral Bay. Whether lounging under a parasol with a good book or taking a refreshing dip in the crystalline waters, every moment by the sea felt like a blissful retreat. From spacious sea-view rooms to opulent suites, every detail exuded sophistication and warmth. Waking up to panoramic views of the azure sea from my private balcony was a highlight of each day, setting the tone for relaxation and rejuvenation. Dining at Coral Beach Hotel & Resort was a culinary delight, with a diverse array of restaurants and bars to satisfy every palate. Whether savoring Mediterranean specialties at Coral Restaurant, indulging in seafood delights at Sea & See Beach Bar and Restaurant, or enjoying cocktails at the Sunset Bar overlooking the horizon, each dining experience was a celebration of Cyprus' rich gastronomic heritage. Beyond its idyllic beachfront setting, Coral Beach Hotel & Resort offers a plethora of leisure facilities to ensure a memorable stay. From a lagoon-style swimming pool surrounded by lush gardens to a state-of-the-art gym and an indulgent spa, there was no shortage of opportunities for relaxation and recreation. I particularly enjoyed unwinding with a rejuvenating massage at the Serenity Health Club & Spa, where skilled therapists eased away tension and restored balance to body and mind. Whether seeking a romantic retreat, a family getaway, or a rejuvenating escape, Coral Beach Hotel & Resort is a destination that promises timeless memories and unforgettable experiences.

For many years we have enjoyed holidaying in our home on the south of the Costa Blanca , which is just a few hours flight from the UK. This time we decided to take our little Chihuahua ‘Elvis’ along. Before you travel with your dog overseas I would highly recommend that you speak your vets, since the UK has left the EU it means there is no pet passport any longer and the pet paperwork that replaces this is a lot more expensive. As well as the health requirements your pet will need for paperwork into the EU, there are additional offer health factors to think about such as protecting your pet against things like sandflies & mosquitos etc. For the outbound journey we decided to book the Portsmouth to Bilbao crossing with Brittany Ferries, as they also most importantly offer dog friendly cabins. Once dogs are on board they are limited to stay in the pet friendly cabin or on the dog deck outside, they are not permitted anywhere else on the ferry. It is also not the smoothest crossing, so if you are likely to suffer from sea sickness, make sure you take some preventative treatments. We sailed on Britany’s Galicia ferry, where on board you have plenty of lounges, a tapas restaurant , bar as well as an al le carte restaurant. You receive 90 minute of free wifi , and then after that you can pay a charge of approx £25 which will last you the whole duration of your crossing ( as you can imagine the wifi isn’t great, so don’t expect to get too much for done ) … I found this out for myself. Embarking and disembarking the ferry is quite a long wait. Once in sunny Bilbao we made our way down to the area of Rojales where our house is. It was pretty much business for me as usual, however I did set up my office outside next to the pool. We did venture into the city of Elche, which is just half an hour away from us, and went to explore their Palm garden, we also visited the neighbouring town of Guardamar, and enjoyed a walk down the promenade and dipping our toes in the sea. We wanted to try a different way to get home at the end of the two weeks, so we decided to take Le Shuttle from Calais to Folkestone … what a game changer, it also meant we had an incredibly scenic drive. We left our house at lunchtime , and drove up along the coastline, stopping on the Costa Brava for the evening, during the peak summer months Costa Brava is teaming with tourists, but during this shoulder season it felt more like a sleepy seaside town. The next day we set off and crossed the boarder over into France, we rebooked a stay in the historic capital of Normandy, Rouen. This was a nice comfortable two hour drive to Calais the next day. There are lots of dog friendly hotel chains in Spain and France , and eating with your dog is so much easier in both countries than it is here in the UK. Due to us having a house in Spain, we got Elvis an EU dog passport whilst we were there. As we were returning to the UK from France, the UK requires dogs to have had a tapeworm treatment within 5 days of crossing the boarder, this has to be administered by a vet. Ok, let me get to the trip that really made our holiday … Le Shuttle … I know it has been around for years , but this is the first time we have ever used it , and oh my word, they could not be more organised or make the process any easier, it was a joy ! Arrive at the Eurotunnel, first port of call is the pet reception where you will need to take you pet in along with all their paperwork , you will also need your Le Shuttle booking reference, then you can go and check in, this is done at a drive thru automated machine that will print out that is essentially your boarding pass, with a boarding number on, you need to have this from your review mirror, Once through , you park up at the terminal, this is basically your departure lounge, there are big screens located in the car park , so you can see when you will be boarding the train. Within the terminal you will find a Burger King, Starbucks, WH Smith , a local coffee/ sandwich shop as well as all of your duty free, there is also a small fenced in exercise area for your dog. As we were sat in the ‘departure lounge’ a steward came round and said we could actually board early as the train before use was quite empty. Big ish queue to board , but moved quickly, and a huge improvement on the ferry queues. Once you have driven through French immigration, you then drive through UK border control , this allows you to drive straight off the train the other side and be on your way, We were on board the train within an hour of arriving at Eurotunnel, one on board the train you can get out of your vehicle if you wish, pets do have to stay inside of the car. The crossing is super fast, we were back in the Uk just 35 minute later, and it took all of 15 minutes for us to be offloaded and back on the British Roads, totally impressed with the smoothness of the journey coming home, even with the 3 days of driving. We are back in Spain for the whole summer, and will be using Le Shuttle in both directions that time. Just some random Shuttle facts, that after our journey I looked into the train is half a mile long, and travels up to 140 km ph , the train weights a whopping 3000 kilos.

I had almost forgotten how much I love Paris , it has been 8 years since I was last in this beautiful city. For my stay in Paris I turned to one of my favourite hotel suppliers, Mr & Mrs Smith. I love their range of unique luxury properties. Mob House, an eco-aware Parisian pad in up-and-coming Saint Ouen that is at once utilitarian and very luxe… and we're delighted to report, it works. Every detail has been pored over: artisanal French tiles, sweeps of marble juxtaposed with concrete, rice-straw headboards, parquet floors (natch) and wall paint mixed from straw and clay. Digital nomads will adore the live/work model at play here, with bedrooms concealed by stylish drapes, work areas and fully functional meeting spaces inside the next-gen industrial suites. Seriously Cool and unique hotel, Urban Chic vibes, with exposed metal piping. The hotel also offers a pool during the summer months. During my stay I was also invited to a new 5* hotel, the latest property launched by the Leitmotiv hotel group, La Fantaisie. Inspired by the natural world, La Fantaisie with its large, landscaped garden promises a unique experience. Conceived as individual havens of peace, the 73 rooms and suites as well as the spa and various bathing facilities provide a total disconnection from the hustle and bustle of the urban environment outside. The restaurant and café resemble a hidden paradise where pleasure and joie de vivre rule. Enjoyment is also at its peak at the rooftop bar: surrounded by greenery, the space opens out onto the legendary zinc roofs of Paris, offering a privileged view. Now for the bit that blew my mind …. The FOOD , one of the most amazing meals I have ever eaten, relaxed fine dining at it’s best. With a big open kitchen, a bar has been built along the pass, which is exactly where we sat , best seat in the house, watching these artistic chefs at work. Another huge bonus for this property is that the nearest Metro station is a mere 300 meters away. For my final night in the city, we had booked some tickets to go to see the world famous Moulin Rouge. Every evening a whirlwind of feathers, sequins and rhinestones blows through the Moulin Rouge, the emblematic Parisian cabaret, as the great revue show “Féerie” takes the stage in four spectacular acts. From the sleepy gardens of the Moulin, to the decks of a pirate ship in Indonesia, to encounters with a travelling circus, before returning with the troupe to a touch of Parisian nostalgia from 1900 to today…The Moulin Rouge takes us on a journey through an enchanting universe during a lovely evening with family, friends or a romantic tête-à-tête. The thing with Paris is, I think you fall in love a little more with each visit.

Seeing the Northern lights has become such an experiential trip for many, and for others is placed firmly on that growing list of ‘Bucket List Trips’ I was excited, and a little apprehensive if I am honest about how I would find the cold weather, because I love the sun and I love my hot sunny holidays. So what I am going to say now will be just as much of a surprise to you as it is to me. I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE !!!! We flew out with Enter Air who are a chartered airline who fly directly into Enontekio, Finland, the flight takes approx 3 hours and 15 minutes. On arrival into Enontekio, which is an incredibly small airport in the middle of literally no where, after you have grabbed your luggage ( there is no luggage carousel here ) the luggage truck with trailer pulls in into the side of the airport building and you go and grab your cases, it’s a little chaotic but I was surprised at how well we all managed to find our cases. When we walked through arrivals we were met by our Transun Representative and guided to our transfer coach. Due to the Northern location of where I stayed in Kilpisjarvi, the transfer time is around 2 hours, just under an hour into the drive we stop to get kitted out in out thermal snowsuits and boots. We must have arrived at our holiday resort ‘Tundrea ‘ about 7pm, the one thing I wish I knew which I am now going to pass onto you is get yourself lunch and a drink at the airport for you to eat during your coach trip. At Tundrea there is loads of different accommodation options to suit all budgets from apartments with their own sauna right through to glass igloos. At the holiday resort after a long bit of traveling, there is no check in required … yes, that means no big long queue at reception which is always a huge downer to start your holidays. We were dropped off by the coach at our suite, our room key and information was already waiting for us. Dinner on the first night starts at 9pm to make up for the late arrival, feeling really tired after the early start and the long day of traveling somehow we found our second wind, and I am so pleased that we did. As just walking around the holiday resort we had some really incredible sightings of the Northern Lights, one of the most amazing experiences EVER ! I can see why some sound their winter chasing the lights, nothing prepares you for how amazing they are, and it’s an experience that I will never forget. All the meals are buffet at Tundrea meal time are : Breakfast 8am-10am Lunch 12.30 -1.30pm Dinner 5.3 - 7pm All of the buffet meals are included in the trip, as well as tea, coffee, juice and water. If you do feel like treating yourself, the restaurant has a a la carte menu, which has everything from Pizza, Reindeer Steak & Burger. There is also a full licensed bar as well. The night we arrived the full itinerary of our trip is put up on the Transun board in the restaurant. Our first morning started at the Reindeer Farm which was just a few minutes walk from the resort. The farm had been run by this family for hundreds of years, we learnt the history of the Sami people who are the only indigenous people left in Europe. Due to rising costs these farms have had to adapt to changing times, to boost their income they now host these tourist events, we got to meet some of the incredible reindeer , and find out how they are looked after and how much they mean to the livelihood of the Sami people. We then had all afternoon to whatever we wanted , you can pre book the sauna, jacuzzi or maybe you will be brave and give the ice hole a go ( I will come to this later in my blog) . Or maybe like me you just want to be a big kid and mess around in the snow , which is exactly what I did. In the evening we did a thrilling snowmobile ride out to the snowy wilderness of Finland. The third day we had the whole day to do what we wanted , so you guessed it, it was another play day in the snow, this time we got the sledges out in action. In the evening we went on a trek by foot in search of the Northern Lights. Day four, and my last full day here , and we went out on an exhilarating 3 hour snowmobile journey that really took us into the middle of no where , in fact this excursion takes you to the 3 borders, so I got to put my feet in Finland, Sweden & Norway all within a few minutes. On our first day , word was already getting around about the ice hole on the resort where you could ‘enjoy’ a ice plunge, we booked it … along with a sauna and Jacuzzi to recover. This ice plunge had been in the back of my mind the whole trip and at 9pm on the Tuesday evening it was time, I have never wanted to not do anything so much in all my life …. I even surprised myself… I did it , twice !! I am sat writing this on the flight home, from what really has been the most amazing trip. I have done things I have never done before, and I have even done things ( the ice plunge ) that I didn’t even want to do. I came away with Transun on their brand new trip ‘The Snowmobile Voyager’ and I would highly recommend it, there was a really great age range on the trip , from families with teenagers to a lady in in her late 70’s that was doing snow angels. I didn’t need to worry about the cold at all, yes it was cold, way into the minus temperatures everyday, but the snowsuits and boots that are provided for you really do work and keep you super war, in fact I over estimated how much I would feel the cold and brought too many jumpers. I have now have a new love of cold destination holidays and wonder where I can go next? I f you have any questions about my trip or if you would like me to help you with planning this amazing trip of a lifetime please get in touch, and I will be happy to help. I have lots of first hand information and tips I can share with you as well.

Royal Palm Beachcomber really left me speechless, it is a member of the leading hotels of the world, and it really deserves to be in there. Be ready to have your mind blown, this really is an incredibly special hotel. So special I am not sure where to start…. Royal Palm offers a personalised service provided by a very dedicated team of artisans, the property has its own helipad, so your personalised stay can start the minute you leave the airport as we whisk you off in a Helicopter. There are 3 heated swimming pools during the Mauritian winter months. The hotel also boasts a spectacular royal suite with private pool. Royal Palm Spa also offers something a little different in partnership with Valmont. You have three incredible a la carte restaurants to choose; La Goelette which is the signature restaurant which overlooks the bay, Restaurant La Plage which offers a restaurant and beach bar, alls et under a magnificent Badamier tree, and then Ischia by Cyril Lignac which is the Italian trattoria facing the lagoon. All three of these restaurants offer a diverse culinary experience and led by the Executive Chef, William Girard. You also have the Royal Grill, which is a signature culinary event which is held on the beach every Thursday. Children are not forgotten here, with complimentary Children’s clubs from 3 to 17 years old. There are enough sporting activities to keep an athlete busy here; 3 floodlit tennis courts, 1 squash court, cardio room, multi purpose fitness room, bodybuilding room, water skiing, sailing, kayaking, wakeboarding & that is just for starters. There are also professional coaches at hand should you require them. You also have access to Mont Choissy Le Golf, an 18 hole golf course located 10 minutes away from the resort. The spa at The Royal Palm is out of this world, with an exclusive partnership with the Swiss brand Valmont, offering an extensive wellness area of 2000m2 which offers 12 treatment rooms, 2 wet steam baths, 2 dry steam baths, hair salon, 2 beauty salons, barber shop, nail salon. Spa retail shop, outdoor plunge pool., yoga pavilion, bar as well as indoor and outdoor relaxation areas. There was nothing that I didn’t love at The Royal Palm, it is truly as close to perfection as you can get. The staff offer a really high personalised service, which is both discreet and without pretence. The hotel often sees guests stay for 3 months and in some cases a year, and after my visit I can see why, as I don’t think I would ever want to leave

Wow Marrakech, what can I say... I stayed in a Riad within the city walls, which is an incredibly authentic stay in the ciy. Colourful souks, Moorish architecture, intimate gardens and boutique hotels--Marrakesh is unforgettable. I spent my days exploring the quiet courtyards and snaking alleyways of the historic Medina, walking through the serene Jardin Majorelle or taking in the beauty of the city’s mosques. I also spent a very uncultured day away from the city in the Palmeraie area at Nikki Beach, one of the most famous beach club concepts in the world, The Marrakech address was just as impressive as any of the others that I have ever visited. You do need to pre book, but there is a day bed to suit every budget. This is most certainly not be my last visit to Morocco, I already have the coastal city of Casablanca in my sights. There is so much I learned during my trip to this colourful city, here are just a few travel tips that I hope you will find helpful: ???? Try not to pay too much attention to signs - especially those pointing to Jamaa El Fna. They were pretty much never correct. ????Jamaa El Fna is a completely dry area, so all the cafes etc do not serve alcohol. ???? If someone offers to give you directions, politely decline, they will take you round the medina and you will be asked for money. ???? When walking through the souk keep to the right , the streets even in the narrow souks give way to scooters, motorbikes, donkeys & horses it’s mayhem. ???? Change your Dirham before you head to the airport, you are not permitted to take currency out of the country. ???? Ladies, cover, up something that at least goes beyond your knees, covers your shoulders and doesn't reveal too much boob for exploring the streets. ???? For a traditional stay, choose from one of the many wonderful Riads the city has to offer, all inclusive hotels outside the city walls will not give you an authentic experience. I could literally go on and on , Marrakech officially has a place in my heart.

I don't know exactly what I was expecting from Grenada, but it exceeded everything I thought I would expect. This is by no means your average Caribbean Island, It is the safest Caribbean Island, will the lowest crime rate. Grenada hasn't been hugely developed, infact only the south and south west coasts have been developed with hotels. The East coast is rugged with the rough Atlantic Ocean, and has not been developed by tourism at all, the north of the island is beautiful rainforest. This magical Island seriously captured my heart, known as 'The Spice Island' , spices are an everyday part of Grenadian life here. The people of Grenada really are the most warm & friendly people I have ever met, one of our tour drivers actually told me "The people of Grenada have too much love in their hearts", they really are incredible people, that will do anything for you. Grand Anse beach would be my favourite place to stay, you really don't need to be all inclusive there are so many local beach bars along this almost 2 mile stretch of beach. You are also super close to the island capital of Saint George's, which is just a short taxi journey down the road. Grenada is an island that offers more than just a beach holiday, the diving was some of the best I have ever seen, there is also the worlds first underwater sculpture park, Rainforests, waterfalls, wildlife and the incredible chocolate made here on the island. There are not many places I would do back for a second time, but Grenada has captured my heart, and I will be back soon.

Known for its futuristic architecture, diverse food and multicultural landscape, compact and fast-paced Singapore is packed with a ton of things to do. Singapore has to be one if the world's most captivating cities, it' like no other destination I have ever visited, chewing gum is banned in this super clean city. We were lucky enough to stayu in three incredible hotels; Shangri La Hotel , which is just a 5 minute walk to Orchard Road Shopping heaven, Orchard is more than just a street. This 2.2km stretch of road is flanked by the most visited shopping malls in Singapore. There’s Ion Orchard, an architect’s fantasy crammed with familiar shops: Apple have opened a concrete-clad flagship here. For something a little different, head to Far East Plaza on Scotts Road. At Christmas time, the over-the-top decorations in the region border on the ridiculous. We also stayed at the Iconic Raffle HoteL, Raffles Singapore sits on the original plot of 10 bungalows at Beach Road that once overlooked sandy beaches and azure skies. However, with Singapore’s rapid development and land reclamation efforts, the hotel’s sea-facing view has been replaced with a view of the bustling malls in the heart of the city. It takes no more than five minutes to walk to City Hall MRT, Raffles City Shopping Centre and JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach. Both the Esplanade MRT station and newly renovated Funan mall are also just a 10-minute walk away. And then we finished our amazing stay at Marina Bay Sands Hotel, This area of the city is dominated by the Marina Bay Sands hotel, designed by Moshe Safdie, who also dreamed up the nearby ArtScience museum. For a view over the bay, you can walk across the futuristic fritted glass Helix Bridge to the Singapore Flyer, a supersized Ferris wheel. Go on a clear night and try and count the city’s innumerable lights from 165m up. But be down in the Gardens by the Bay by 7:45pm or 8:45pm, when the daily light shows start. We stayed clear of Sentosa Island out of choice, I have some SIngaporian friends, who said that the area was extremely touristy, and during our stay we really wanted to explore the real 'Singapore'. We did make the huge mistake of paying for a very overpriced meal whilst we were in the city, the best food we experienced the whole time we were here was in the many Hawker centres. What I really recommend you do whilst you are in the city are : - If you can't afford to stay at Raffles Hotel, high tea in the grand lobby is an incredible experience, thic must be booked in advance, or drop into the Long Bar for a famous 'Singapore Sling' - Grab yourself a cocktail at the Marina sands Bay hotel bar , and live that 'crazy rich asian ' life - Singapore Duck tour is an incredible way of discovering Singapore

Barcelona is an enchanting seaside city with boundless culture, fabled architecture and a world-class drinking and dining scene. Barcelona lures me back time after time. Part of the enduring appeal of Barcelona is the ease with which travelers can wander between neighborhoods. From a string of golden-sand beaches to fashionable shopping districts, Spain’s second-largest city is a joy to uncover. In one area you'll find Modernist masterpieces by Antoni Gaudí. In another Las Ramblas or a cool Japanese patisserie. With honeycomb-colored cobblestones and century-old shops, there is plenty to discover. Barcelona may not be the biggest city you’ve ever been to, but it is massive when you consider all the ways you can entertain yourself. Because there is so much to see, the ideal number of days for a trip to Barcelona is between two and five. That should be enough to cover the must-sees, but if you want to explore more in the surrounding area, 10 days would give you additional time to plan day trips either to nearby cava wineries, the Costa Brava, or even as far north as the Pyrenees for a day of skiing. Everyone will tell you La Rambla is a must-do, but for me, walking the Rambla feels a lot like walking through Times Square back at home – crowded, touristy, and to be avoided whenever possible. Thankfully, the city has more than one Rambla, where you can actually enjoy the slow strolling these city features were built for. In the center, you can venture down the Rambla del Raval with its famous Botero cat sculpture, or go a little bit out of the way to walk the Rambla del Poblenou from Diagonal all the way down to the beach. Barceloneta is the most famous beach in Barcelona, and the adjacent neighborhood is worth checking out for its narrow streets and great tapas spots, but travel further down if you actually want to lay out on the beach. Barceloneta can get very crowded and noisy with tourists, so walk or cab your way past Port Olímpic to Platja de la Mar Bella. Because all the beaches in Barcelona are artificial, built for the 1992 Olympic games, the sand isn’t the nicest, to be frank. If you can travel outside the city to Sitges or up the Costa Brava, you’ll find more tranquil and scenic beaches. As soon as I get off the plane, I make a dash for La Boqueria Food Market, About two thirds of the way up the Ramblas, on the left, you will see one of Europe's largest and most famous food markets. This is a place where I love to spend an hour or so feasting the senses. The Boqueria's grand iron entrance leads to a fully functioning world of food that throngs with both tourists and locals. The floors are slippy with melted ice and fruit skins and the stall holders are loud, but this all adds to the charm of the experience. You will find foods of all varieties and nationalities under one roof. Dotted around the market there are bars selling both food and drink. They are most popular for lunches but are also an option for a lighter snack. The most famous of these bars is El Pinotxo, just to the right of the entrance. However, if you struggle to find one of the coveted high-stools here, rest assured that the bars further towards the back of the market are of equal quality. Foods are priced similarly to a quality restaurant. This can seem absurd, as a man carrying a pig carcass passes right underneath your nose, but it also serves to remind you of the freshness of the produce on offer.

Zanzibar is known as the 'Spice Isle' , it is also know for it's crystal clear waters and wildlife. The island is off of the east coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean. Stone Town is an absolute must, it's famous for its iconic doorways that blend the typical African style with Indian and Arabic designs. Of an estimated amount of 560 doors around Zanzibar City, the majority can be found in this part of the island's capital. Zanzibar was home to one of the largest slave markets in the world. Although the slave trade took place all over the island, three major markets saw the bulk of these inhumane transactions. You will find the slavery museum as well as a slavery monument in the city. If you are a Freddie Mercury Fan, you may already know that he was born and raised in Stone Town, his family home still remains, half of the house has been turned into a hotel, and the other half has been turned into a Freddie Mercury museum. As a primary trading post on the spice, silk and slave trade routes for over a millennium, Zanzibar has been a unique cultural crossroads, blending African, Indian, Arabian and European cultures. This is most apparent in the Old Stone Town, one of the few remaining ancient towns in Africa. Stone Town is a labyrinth of chaotic alleyways, interposed between towering limestone houses, each with ornately carved hardwood doors with brass finishings and terracotta roofs. Alongside the architecture, Zanzibar is unique in its cuisine, religion, politics, and way of life. It's very different to mainland Tanzania, and makes for a perfect start or end to an East African safari. Zanzibar offers a number of outdoor activities and water sports, including cycling, kitesurfing, diving, or just general island hopping. Most hotels are based on the mainland, but if you want to escape the bustle of the main island’s beaches, there are plenty of smaller islands to give you that marooned-on-a-desert-island experience. Mnemba island is largely regarded as one of the best dive and snorkel spots in Zanzibar. The island is a 30-minute boat ride from the town of Matemwe on Unguja’s East coast. Zanzibar city comprises two parts: Stone Town, the historical epicentre, and Ng’ambo (literally translated as ‘the other side’). Stone Town is the historical core of Zanzibar, said to be the only remaining ancient town of East Africa still used today. It offers enough activities for two days, including strolling around the labyrinthian alleys, touring the old slave market, visiting Prison island, checking out the old Sultanate ruins, or getting lost in the old market. Let’s not forget that the Zanzibar archipelago is, rather exotically, also known as the ‘Spice islands’ for its historical role as the centre for spice trade. It's well worth taking a tour of the spice farms that still operate today and can be reached from Zanzibar city. The best time to visit Zanzibar is from July to August and December to February. These are the dry seasons, so the weather is warm and there is less chance of rain ruining planned excursions. These seasons link perfectly with Tanzania if you are looking to combine your trip with a safari or trek. Which is exactly what we did, we took a light aircraft over to Mikumi National Park for a day safari. Like Tanzania, Zanzibar has two rainy seasons, one short, the other long. The long rainy season often sees monsoons from March to May, which means the beaches are crowd-free and hotels offer discount rates, but you will be sunbathing in torrential rain!

I was lucky enough to spend 10 years of my life living in this amazing country, so I am a little bias when it comes to South Africa, I still have friends there, so I have a great excuse to head back to my second home yearly. Depending what you are looking to do during your stay in Cape Town will depend very much what time of year is best for you to travel, the weather in the Cape is very different to Johannesburg. December to March is the best time to go if you are looking for some much needed sun, and June to November is whale season. Even in the hot summer months, you need to pack for a few different seasons, Cape Town is windy , even on the hottest days a jacket is sometimes is needed. January this year I visited for a whirlwind trip , and squeezed a lot into just 8 days. Cape Town is so easy to get around and explore, we walked a lot, Uber is also a great way of getting around. Or maybe try the hop on hop off bus. I spread my time between the city, Durbanville staying with friends, and then a very alcoholic stay in Franschhoek , hoping on and off of the wine tram drinking our way through all the beautiful wine farms, including Mont Rochelle which is owned by Richard Branson/ I also arranged a full Cape Peninsula tour, where we took in the incredible sights of Camps Bay, Cape of Good Hope and the National Park, Hout Bay, which is famous for Sharks, if you have ever watched a shark documentary there is a huge chance that it was filmed here. We took the scenic drive along Chapman's Peak Drive, which has been featured in films such as James Bond & Tomb Raider, along with many car commercials. We also stopped at the Shark Spotting hut at Muizenberg Beach, the hut is set high above the beach, the shark spotter sits in the hut watching out for sharks, when he spots one, he presses a button which alerts the lifeguards down on the beach, so they can get everyone out of the water. Of course I just had to go to the top of Table Mountain, this can only be done in good weather conditions. The pound to South African Rand is amazing value at the minute, which makes this holiday of a lifetime such good value. I have lots of local tips and information, which I would love to chat to you about if you are planning a visit to this very special country.

Myself and my now husband ( will do a honeymoon blog ) travelled to Sandals Grande Antigua in August 2021, most people are not sure how the weather will be in August, however I can highly recommend, August is low season in Antigua, so no crowds, we loved it, we had an hour of rain in the whole two weeks we were there , Antiguans call it liquid sun ! Antigua is one of the flattest Caribbean islands, so really does get very little rain. We stayed on the Caribbean side of the resort, which was perfect for us, we had a luxury level room, which looked on to one of the six pools at the hotel. The hotel is situated on Dickenson Beach, which is famed for being the best beach on the Island. This was our first ever all inclusive experience, and we were not quite sure if it would be for us, little did we know that we would be seduced by Sandals! The food is exceptional, fine dining and 11 eateries to choose from, we felt so spoilt. We did make sure we did lots of excursions; Island Boat Tour, this power boat trip takes you for a full tour round the island, giving you chance to see all 365 beaches for yourself, Antigua has a beach for every day of the year ! You also get to stop at Stingray City, where in the middle of the sea you swim with hundreds of wild Stingray, there are also opportunities to stop for some snorkelling, we were even luck enough to spot dolphins. Antigua Land Tour, a great day out getting to see the rest if the island, and learning about it's rich history, you will visit : Devil's Bridge, Nelson's Dockyard, Shirley Heights, St, Johns & Sir Vivian Richards Cricket grounds. The Sunset Cruise, this was a fun evening, with lots of rum punch, and the chance to watch the sunset over the Caribbean sea. I love horses, I have two of my own, and when I go away I always want to do a beach ride, I was lucky enough in Antigua to do a beach ride, and then also take the tack off and go swimming in the sea with the horse, it was like a childhood dream come true. Antigua has been one of our most favourite holidays to date, and we have been well & truly seduced by Sandals. Lobster is a real speciality, and it's great, highly recommend trying it whilst you are on the island, as well as their famous black pineapple, which is the national fruit of Antugua & Barbuda, the pineapple's are sweeter than normal, they are the sweetest pineapples in the world. We did also sample quite a few of the islands different rums.... well when in Rome and all that
