A Memorable Visit to Majorca – A Home from Home
My recent visit to Majorca was like returning home. Having had a family property on the island for many years, Majorca holds a special place in my heart. I visited with my mum – our first time back on the island for 15yrs.
We stayed at the charming Hotel D’or in Cala D’or, a resort that perfectly blends relaxation with local character. With its beautiful marina full of beautiful seafood restaurants, relaxed pace, and friendly atmosphere, it’s easy to see why Cala D’or is a favourite.
We spent a lovely morning wandering through Santanyí market, browsing local crafts and sampling delicious produce. Another highlight was returning to Mondragó Beach, a place filled with treasured family memories. Its natural beauty and crystal-clear waters are simply unforgettable.
What makes Majorca truly special is its versatility. Whether you’re after luxury or travelling on a budget, there’s a resort for everyone – from lively Magaluf to tranquil Sóller. The island also offers countless attractions: historic towns like Alcúdia, stunning mountain drives through the Serra de Tramuntana, and cultural gems like Palma Cathedral.
Before flying home, we spent the day in Palma, exploring the city and eating some huevos rotos. The short flight time and regular flights makes Palma a great option for a short break or twin a city break with some beach relaxation time.
Majorca also has a great foodie scene. Whether you crave Michelin-starred artistry in Deià or Canyamel, or local seafood and tapas in Cala d’Or and Santanyí, there’s something for every taste and budget.
Best of all, Majorca feels like home – thanks to the friends we’ve made and the warmth of the local community. Each visit deepens our connection to this beautiful Balearic island.
We’ll be back again soon.
