A day aboard the Disney Dream

The experience is also so much more premium than many people expect. There’s incredible dining, a full-sized theatre, a cinema, pools, sports courts, deck games, vast children’s clubs and even the AquaDuck water coaster. So much of the ship is designed with families in mind.

The staterooms are spacious, many can sleep five people and I love touches such as the split bathrooms, which make such a difference when you’re travelling as a family.

And then there are the adult-only spaces. This is one of the things I think surprises people most. There are speciality restaurants, bars, the Quiet Cove pool, sun deck and café, giving grown-ups plenty of opportunities to enjoy some time away from the children too.

In my view, Disney cruises work particularly well for two types of families:

-          Disney fans who have visited the parks and loved them, but are now looking for a fresh way to enjoy the magic.

-          Grandparents who want to treat their children and grandchildren to something really special.

Disney cruises really suit multi-generational groups. There’s so much for families to enjoy together, but also lots to keep children entertained while adults enjoy the beautiful Disney details, timeless ship styling, sense of space and refined dining.

So, if you’ve been thinking about treating your children or grandchildren to a Disney experience, but don’t fancy long, exhausting days in the theme parks, a Disney cruise could be the perfect alternative.

Even though I’ve experienced Disney cruising before, I still found myself spotting details on the Dream that made me think, “Disney really has thought of everything.” And with Disney ships sailing from Southampton as well as in iconic destinations around the world, there are plenty of options to choose from.
