Crete: One Island, Countless Mini-Breaks

Crete Multi-Centre

If you love the idea of exploring but do not want the hassle of multiple flights and long transfers, Crete is an ideal choice. Greece's largest island feels more like a small country, with distinct regions, landscapes and atmospheres, all within easy reach of each other.

Move around a little, and suddenly you have created a series of mini-breaks within one holiday: different views, different vibes and different experiences, all on the same island.

A multi-centre stay in Crete means you can change the mood of your trip as you go and is exactly how I chose to holiday in Crete recently.

We started with a relaxing break in a small boutique hotel, a few steps from the beach where we found a lovely bar to enjoy the sunset, it was perfect to launch into holiday mode. We then chose to switch it up with a change of scenery heading to a beachfront hotel  with easy access to the lively harbour town of Rethymno, perfect for evenings out, shopping and sightseeing. We ended our trip with a few nights at an all inclusive property, complete with land and watersports including an aqua park, particularly chosen for my active travelling companion!

It's location in the village of Panormo was fantastic and gave us the opportunity  to take an evening stroll out of resort and experience local Cretan life.

We only unpacked a couple of times, yet it felt like several holidays in one. Holidaying like this means sach change of base gives your trip a fresh burst of energy. There are always new places to eat, new scenery to enjoy and new experiences to try, while you continue to enjoy the same sunshine, crystal-clear sea and warm Cretan hospitality.

Crete also offers an excellent variety of accommodation styles, so there is something to suit every taste from beachfront or luxury resorts for full relaxation and easy access to the sea to smaller boutique hotels or character guesthouses when you want charm and a real sense of place. The town or harbourside hotels are ideal for evenings out, shopping and nightlife on your doorstep  yet suites and villas offer more space, privacy and a home-from-home feel if relaxed, self catering is your preference

Suitable for families, couples, friends and explorers, Crete is a wonderful destination for a multi centre holiday because distances are manageable, you spend more time enjoying each stop and less time travelling between them.  I've already already started planning my next visit, and yes it will also be a multi-centre, with some hiking thrown in!

If you would like to explore a multi-centre trip to Crete, I can design a tailor-made itinerary around your dates, interests and budget, suggest the right mix of locations and accommodation styles, and arrange everything from transfers to special experiences.  Contact me to start planning your Crete adventure.
