Girls’ Getaway to Marrakech: Sunshine, Spices and So Much Laughter

Exploring the Marrakech Medina and Souks

One of the biggest highlights of our Marrakech girls’ weekend was spending time in the Medina. And wow... it is an experience! The Marrakech Medina is busy, colourful, noisy and completely full of life. You have scooters coming through the narrow streets, stallholders calling out, people going about their day and something different catching your eye around every corner. Then you have the souks. Lamps, bags, jewellery, shoes, rugs, spices, ceramics... there is so much to look at that you could spend hours wandering around. We had such a laugh exploring together, but my biggest piece of advice is be prepared to haggle! Actually, don't just be prepared... embrace it! It is all part of the Marrakech experience, and we certainly had some fun trying to get the best price. The Medina can feel quite overwhelming at first, particularly if you've never been to Marrakech before, but once you get into the swing of it, it is such an exciting place to explore. And when you've had enough of the madness, there are plenty of little cafés where you can escape for a mint tea or a cold drink and watch the world go by.

Quad Biking in Marrakech

We decided that we couldn't spend the whole weekend shopping and eating, so we added a bit of adventure too! One of our favourite things to do in Marrakech  was quad biking outside the city. It was such a contrast to the busy Medina. One minute you're surrounded by people, shops and noise, and the next you're out in open space with the Atlas Mountains in the distance. We climbed onto our quad bikes, put our helmets on and headed off, with plenty of dust, bumps and laughter along the way. It was brilliant fun and definitely something I would recommend doing as a group. There is something about doing an activity like this with friends that makes it even more enjoyable. If you're planning a  Marrakech girls’ getaway  and want to add a bit of adventure to your trip, quad biking is definitely worth considering.

Camel Riding in Marrakech

We also tried camel riding, which was a much more relaxed experience. It's one of those things that feels very "Marrakech" and, of course, we had to give it a go! Once you're actually sitting on the camel and gently swaying along, everything suddenly feels much slower.It was a fun experience and made for some great photographs too. Would I want to spend all day doing it? Probably not! But as part of a Marrakech city break, it was definitely worth doing and another experience we could all laugh about afterwards.

The Traditional Marrakech Hammam Was An Experience!

Now, the  traditional hammam in Marrakech deserves its own section because it really was an experience! And I definitely think this is one you shouldnt do as a group... ha! We went for a traditional hammam and massage, which was very different from the sort of spa treatment you would normally have at home. There was warm steam, black soap, a proper scrub and plenty of water before we eventually got to the relaxing massage. I'm not going to lie, the scrubbing amongst friends was definitely more intense than I expected! But once it was finished, our skin felt amazing and we were completely relaxed. If you're planning a girls’ weekend in Marrakech, I would definitely recommend adding a traditional hammam to your itinerary. Just be prepared for it to be a little more vigorous than your average spa treatment and ask for an individual appointment! its not a group activity! ha

Marrakech at Night

One of my favourite things about Marrakech was seeing how different the city feels once the sun goes down.

The atmosphere completely changes.

The streets become even busier, the restaurants come alive and the rooftops start filling with people enjoying the warm evenings.

We made the most of our nights out and tried some fantastic restaurants, each with a completely different atmosphere.

Saffran Marrakech: The Highlight of Our Trip

Our absolute favourite evening was at Saffran Marrakech. It was amazing! The atmosphere was brilliant, with live entertainment, music and so much going on throughout the evening. It was exactly what you want from a  girls’ night out in Marrakech. We laughed, sang along, had a  dance and  had the best time. It felt like a real occasion rather than simply going out for dinner, and it was definitely one of the highlights of our entire trip. If you're looking for the best places to eat and enjoy entertainment in Marrakech , I would definitely put Saffran on your list.

Dinner at Nobu Marrakech

We also had dinner at Nobu Marrakech, which was a completely different type of evening. It was sophisticated, stylish and felt like a real treat. It is better for drinks rather than food and the whole setting had that special occasion feel. After a busy day exploring the Medina, it was lovely to get dressed up and enjoy a more glamorous evening. If you're planning a luxury Marrakech city break or a special girls’ weekend, Nobu is definitely worth considering.

Rooftop Dining at Momo Marrakech

Another lovely lunch was at Momo Marrakech, a rooftop restaurant in the Medina.

After spending the day down in the busy streets, walking up onto the rooftop felt like entering another world. There were lanterns and beautiful views across the city. It was such a lovely setting for lunch and a proper catch up I think rooftop restaurants in Marrakech are one of the things that make it here so special.You can spend the day surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the souks and then find yourself sitting somewhere peaceful, looking across the rooftops as the sun goes down.

Our Hair Raising Tuk Tuk Ride!

Now, getting back to our hotel after one of our evenings out was an experience in itself! We decided to get a tuk tuk back and, honestly, it was hair raising! There were definitely moments where we all looked at each other wondering whether we were actually going to make it back! It was one of those experiences that was slightly terrifying at the time but absolutely hilarious afterwards.

Would I do it again?

I'm not sure about that! But it certainly gave us something else to laugh about and was definitely part of the Marrakech experience.

Marrakech in October

We travelled to Marrakech at the end of October 2025 and I thought the weather was absolutely lovely. It was warm and sunny during the day without the intense heat you can experience during the height of summer. For me, this is one of the biggest attractions of visiting  Marrakech in October. If you're looking for some late summer sunshine when the weather back home has started to turn colder, Marrakech is a fantastic option. We could explore during the day, enjoy outdoor activities and then sit outside on rooftop restaurants in the evening. It really did feel like we'd managed to squeeze a little bit of extra summer into the year.

Why Marrakech Is Perfect for a Girls’ Weekend

Looking back, I think Marrakech worked so well for our girls’ trip because there was so much variety. You can spend the morning exploring the Marrakech Medina, shopping in the souks, enjoying a traditional hammam in the afternoon and then dressing up for a fantastic dinner and evening entertainment. Or you can add a little adventure with quad biking or camel riding.

There is genuinely something for everyone. And because Marrakech is so different from your typical European city break, it makes a brilliant choice if you want to do something a little bit different with your friends. For a Marrakech weekend break, you can fit so much into just a few days without feeling like you have to spend every minute sightseeing.

My Favourite Things About Marrakech

Looking back at our trip, these are the things that really stood out to me:

The Medina:  Chaotic, colourful and completely unforgettable.

The souks:  Brilliant fun, but be prepared to haggle!

The food: So much choice and some amazing restaurants.

The hammam: Definitely an experience

The activities: Quad biking and camel riding gave us a great change of pace.

The evenings:  From Saffran to Nobu and Momo, we had some fantastic nights out.

The weather:  Warm sunshine at the end of October was exactly what we needed.

The company:  Let's be honest, doing it all with the girls made the whole trip!

Would I Recommend Marrakech for a Girls’ Getaway?

Absolutely. If you're looking for a girls’ weekend away, Marrakech is such a fun option. It gives you that feeling of being somewhere completely different without needing a huge amount of time away. You can shop, eat, relax, explore, have a hammam, enjoy some adventure and dress up for some fantastic evenings out. And there is something really lovely about experiencing it with friends. We came home with so many memories, plenty of photographs and, most importantly, lots of stories that we are still laughing about.

My Final Thoughts on Marrakech

Our Marrakech girls’ weekend was the perfect combination of sunshine, culture, food, adventure, relaxation and plenty of laughter. From the chaos of the Medina and the haggling in the souks to the quad biking, camel riding, our very memorable hammam experience and some brilliant nights out, we managed to pack a lot into just a few days. And yes, there were moments when Marrakech felt chaotic and a little overwhelming, but I think that's part of its charm. It's different. It's exciting. And it certainly isn't boring!

Would I go back?

Definitely.

Would I volunteer for another hammam?

Let's just say I think it would need to be a Individual massage next time!... ha!
