Jesolo & Venice:Combining Venice with a Luxury Beach and Wellness Escape

There is something unexpectedly calming about returning from Venice to Jesolo in the evening.

After a day spent wandering through hidden alleyways, crossing canal bridges, learning centuries of history and absorbing the atmosphere of one of the world’s most unique cities, arriving back beside the sea with a spritz in hand and the Adriatic stretching out in front of you feels like discovering a completely different side of Italy.

And in many ways, this combination is what makes this part of northern Italy so special.

Most people think of Venice as a standalone city break, but pairing it with Jesolo creates something far more balanced, culture and coastline, history and wellness, exploration and rest.

During a recent FAM trip to Italy, I stayed at the beautiful Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Jesolo and completely rethought how I would recommend Venice to travellers.

If you are searching for where to stay near Venice, luxury hotels in Jesolo Italy, wellness hotels in Italy or a Venice and beach holiday combination, this is a part of Italy that deserves far more attention.

Where Is Jesolo, Italy?

Jesolo sits on the Adriatic coast in the Veneto region of northern Italy, around 45 minutes from Venice depending on transfers.

A popular seaside resort since the 1950s and 60s, it has long been loved for its wide sandy beach, relaxed atmosphere and classic Italian coastal lifestyle.

Unlike more formal or remote beach destinations, Jesolo feels open and easy. Families cycle along the promenade in the evenings, couples linger over aperitivo by the sea and the rhythm of life naturally slows down.

Its greatest strength, however, is its location.

You can spend the day immersed in Venice, then return to space, sea air and calm in the evening.

Arriving into Venice itself by private water taxi from Jesolo was also one of the most atmospheric travel moments of the trip, a truly memorable way to experience the city for the first time.

Falkensteiner Jesolo: Austrian Wellness Meets Italian Coastal Living

Part of the wider Falkensteiner Hotels & Residences collection, Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Jesolo blends contemporary Italian beach living with a strong Austrian wellness philosophy.

Founded by the Falkensteiner family in South Tyrol before expanding across Austria, Italy and the Adriatic, the brand is known for its focus on wellbeing, design-led hospitality and outdoor lifestyle experiences.

Across its portfolio, that can include mountain spa retreats, ski hotels, lakeside wellness escapes and coastal resorts centred around movement, relaxation and nature.

That philosophy fits Jesolo perfectly.

Here, sea, wellness, cycling, wine culture and easy access to Venice all come together in one place.

My Stay at Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Jesolo

From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt calm, contemporary and restorative.

Set directly on the beach, the hotel combines soft whites, blues and warm Mediterranean tones, creating a relaxed coastal aesthetic that feels stylish without being formal.

It immediately encourages you to slow down.

My mornings started quietly with coffee overlooking the sea before days moved between exploring the local area, enjoying the spa and embracing the slower rhythm of the coast.

The Acquapura Spa was a real highlight. Designed around true wellness rather than just hotel facilities, it features hydrotherapy areas, saunas, jacuzzis, pools and beautifully designed relaxation spaces that make it very easy to switch off completely.

There is also yoga, Pilates, a gym and easy access to cycling routes and the beach, making it ideal for travellers who want to combine culture, movement and relaxation.

Importantly, it also works very well for families, with dedicated pool areas and a relaxed atmosphere that never feels overly formal.

Food, Wine and the Adriatic Way of Life

One of the strongest impressions from this trip was how naturally life slows down here.

Meals are not rushed. Days flow easily into evenings. And food and wine become part of the experience rather than something structured around it.

The Veneto region is known for its wines, and there was no shortage of opportunities to enjoy them throughout the stay. Fresh seafood, cicchetti-style sharing plates and relaxed aperitivo culture all added to the sense of place.

And yes, there was quite a lot of wine tasting involved.

Jesolo encourages a different pace of travel, one where you stop checking the time and simply enjoy where you are.

Things to Do in Jesolo, Italy

Coffee Stop

Jesolo offers far more than a traditional beach holiday.

For travellers looking for a luxury beach hotel near Venice or a wellness-led Italy itinerary, it works exceptionally well.

Things to do in Jesolo include:

Relaxing on Jesolo’s long sandy beach
Spa and wellness experiences

Cycling along the promenade and coastal routes
Watersports and sailing
Golf nearby
Wine tasting in the Veneto region
Beach clubs, restaurants and aperitivo bars
Boat trips across the lagoon
Easy day trips to Venice

It feels relaxed, open and spacious compared to many of Italy’s more crowded destinations.

Why Venice and Jesolo Work So Well Together

Where you stay when visiting Venice makes a significant difference to the experience.

Venice is extraordinary, immersive and unlike anywhere else in the world, but it can also feel intense during busy periods.

Jesolo offers the perfect contrast.

One day can be spent exploring St Mark’s Square, wandering hidden canals, learning about Venetian history and enjoying cicchetti beside the water.

The next can be spent by the sea, in the spa, cycling along the coast or simply enjoying a long lunch in the sunshine.

For most travellers, I would recommend two to three nights in Venice followed by Jesolo for relaxation and beach time.

It creates a more balanced, restorative rhythm to the holiday and allows both destinations to be fully appreciated.

For longer Italy itineraries, this combination also works beautifully with Verona, Lake Garda and the Dolomites.

Final Thoughts: A More Balanced Way to Experience Venice

Before this trip, Jesolo was not somewhere I knew in detail.

Now I completely understand why it has been a favourite for generations of Italian and European travellers.

What makes it so compelling is the balance.

The grandeur of Venice paired with the calm of the Adriatic coast.

Historic streets followed by spa afternoons.

Busy sightseeing days balanced with beach walks, wine tasting and slow evenings by the sea.

It feels like a more complete, more restorative way to experience this part of Italy.

And ultimately, that is what makes it so special.

Venice gives you wonder. Jesolo gives you space to enjoy it.
