A Slice of Greek Paradise: Our Stay at Aldemar Olympian Village, Skafidia
As a Travel Counsellor, I spend a lot of time helping others plan their dream getaways — but this time, it was my turn! My husband and I have just returned from an unforgettable five-night all-inclusive escape at the Aldemar Olympian Village 5 star Resort, and we had such a fantastic experience.
Where is it?
Nestled on the west coast of the Peloponnese, the resort is located in the charming village of Skafidia, within the greater region of Olympia — the birthplace of the Olympic Games!
It’s a scenic 3 to 3.5-hour drive from Athens, or if you're flying from the UK, you can catch a direct flight from Manchester to Kalamata, followed by a pleasant 126km transfer through beautiful Greek countryside.
Our Home Away From Home: The Swim-Up Bungalow
We stayed in a swim-up bungalow, and I can genuinely say it was something really special. Mornings began with breakfast at Sympossio restaurant, before retreating to our private pool area. It felt like our own little sanctuary — peaceful, sun-soaked, and utterly relaxing.
After a lazy morning, we’d head to Ambrosia for a light lunch, then make our way to the beach for the afternoon.
Skafidia Beach – Blue Flag Beauty
The resort sits right on the award-winning, Blue Flag Skafidia Beach, and it’s easy to see why it holds that honour. Golden sands, crystal-clear Ionian waters, and panoramic sea views make this one of the most stunning beaches I’ve ever visited.
Whether you’re sunbathing, swimming, or just sipping a cocktail with your toes in the sand, it’s a truly idyllic setting.
Dining Highlights – A Taste of Greece (and Beyond)
One of the standout features of our stay was the exceptional food. The all-inclusive offering is genuinely high quality, and the à la carte options were a real treat.
At the Marina restaurant, we indulged in scallops and squid to start, followed by lobster tail — all served with front-row seats to an incredible Ionian sunset.
On another evening, La Pergola delighted us with steak, gnocchi, and a standout bottle of Manousakis 'Nostos Blend' — a rich, elegant mix of Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Roussanne. (I took a photo of the bottle — I’ll definitely be stocking up for winter!)
Service & Comfort
The staff at Aldemar Olympian Village were unfailingly friendly, helpful, and professional throughout our stay.
You could really tell they were on top of everything — always attentive and available when needed, but never intrusive or overbearing.
Final Thoughts
Whether you're looking for a romantic retreat, a family holiday, or just a place to switch off and unwind, Aldemar Olympian Village ticks all the boxes. The location, accommodation, food, service, and setting were all top-notch.
We came home completely recharged — that wonderfully rested feeling you only get from truly switching off.
And perhaps the best endorsement of all? I finished two books during our stay — the ultimate sign of a truly relaxing break!
If you're thinking about a luxury Greek getaway, don’t hesitate to get in touch — I’d be delighted to help you plan your own escape to Skafidia. ??
