Which Walt Disney World is right for you?
I spent a week touring the Walt Disney World hotels in order to help my customers choose the right disney hotel for their holidays
I spent a week visiting all of the Walt Disney World Orlando hotels because I can't stay in all of them, so I wanted to familiarise myself with all of them so that I am better able to help my customers choose the right hotel for them.
Here are all of the hotels I visited:
- Art of Animation
- Pop Century
- Caribbea Beach
- Coronado Springs
- Animal Kingdom Lodge
- Polynesian
- Grand Floridian
- Contemporary
- Wilderness Lodge
- Port Orleans Resort - Riverside
Hotels I have personally stayed at:
- Art of Animation
- All Star Sports
- All Star Movies
- Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter
- Coronado Springs
Disney hotels are divided into categories - Value, Moderate, and Deluxe (which also include the villas). The Value resorts are the lower budget hotels and are very Disney themed with larger than life Disney characters dotted around the resort. There are only 4 moderate resorts but are that next step up, with slightly larger rooms, more dining options and closer to the parks. The Deluxe resorts are of a more luxurious nature, have more space again, much closer to the parks, and again better dining options.
If you have a low budget you will want to look at the Value resorts. The All Star resorts are usually the cheaper options and are located right next to eachother. They are large, sprawling resorts with a couple of small pools along with a large main pool. You've got a large food court, arcade and a gift shop. You can take the bus to all of the parks and these do come regularly. If you have a larger family then Art of Animation is ideal as they have 2 bedroom suites that you can pay extra for.
If you can afford to spend a little more, you can look at the Moderate resorts. Caribbean Beach resort has the added benefit of having access to the Skyliner which takes you to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, or you can take the buses to the other parks. It has a great theme with a fantastic pool, and then you also have access to a decent sized food court, a pool bar and a restaurant called Sebastian's Bistro. Coronado Springs has a more luxury feel to it because it has a convention centre attached to it. There are multiple restaurants to choose from here as well as a food court. There are also multiple pools as well as a fantastic main pool with a slide. There is only one transport option here, the bus, but again this is a regular service to the parks. Then you have the Port Orleans Resorts which both have a great main pool and a couple of smaller pools at Riverside. French Quarter is the smallest resort on Disney property so there is only one pool here but it is large and there are plenty of sunbeds. The theming here is to Port Orleans and jazz music is played around the resort, prividing a lovely relaxed atmosphere. As well as the buses to the parks, you can get on a friendship boat to Disney Springs which makes a lovely evening out for shopping and dining.
If you're looking to treat yourself, you could splash out on a Deluxe resort. There are plenty of these to choose from so I won't go into too much detail, but there are a cluster of them on the monorail loop providing access to Magic Kingdom and Epcot easily enough, then you have some around the Boardwalk area which puts you within walking distance of Epcot and Hollywood Studios. But if a Deluxe Resort is within your budget I can definitely talk you through the options and help you choose the right one for you.
The Moderate and Deluxe resorts are more subtly themed compared to the Value Resorts. You won't find any larger than life Disney characters but each resort has a beautiful theme whether that is Animal Kingdom Lodge having a safari style African theme to it, or the Polynesian having a Polynesian theme to it, each one is impressive and worth a visit.
Choosing a Disney hotel can be overwhelming as there are so many of them to choose from, and there are so many pros and cons to each one, depending on your situation. So let me do the hard work for you. Get in touch and let's plan your Walt Disney World holiday.
