Learning by experience: Academy Travel Counsellors discover Corfu

Our dedicated Travel Academy is designed for people who are new to the travel industry. It gives them the training and confidence to build their own travel business, whatever their background. And what better way to build destination knowledge than to experience it for yourself?

This year, we ran our first-ever incentive exclusively for Academy Travel Counsellors – and nine lucky winners recently travelled to Corfu to join an amazing Grecotel FAM trip.

Learning about Grecotel

We know bookings can take time to build, so we wanted to give everyone different ways to take part and develop their destination knowledge.

Travel Counsellors earned entries into a prize draw by completing Grecotel e-learning, sharing social media posts and making bookings. The more points they gained, the more chances they had to win.

With brilliant support from Liz at Grecotel, the incentive gathered momentum. A league table kept everyone updated throughout, and the winners explored four Grecotel hotels: Corfu Imperial, Costa Botanica, Eva Palace and Daphnila Bay.

Each hotel had its own character, giving the group a first-hand feel for the different experiences Grecotel offers, and the warm Greek hospitality that runs through the brand.

Seeing Corfu for themselves

There was time to explore beyond the hotels, too. Corfu Town’s historic Old Town and Venetian fortifications offered a glimpse of the island’s past, while Danilia Village, a colourful recreation of a traditional Corfiot village, brought its local character to life.

Experiencing the hotels and destination first-hand helps Travel Counsellors build their knowledge and make informed recommendations to customers.

As Travel Counsellor Ben Grimes put it: “Seeing these places for myself is how I know which one’s right for which client.”

The feedback from the group has been fantastic, and we’re delighted the incentive gave them such a memorable way to learn more about Grecotel and Corfu.
